Awful idea in forcing people to quit party chat. I only want to speak to my friends list and not random wankers online.

How about a permanent private chat where you can only speak to and be heard by people on your Friends List? Read on....

On the 360 or at Xbox.com, edit your profile / Privacy Settings and set Voice and Text to Friends Only.

I used this setting for a long time after getting sick of the constant racist and vulgar banter in Live games. The main problem is it makes it a bit harder to make new friends.

Just recieved an e-mail from hmv to say that my prestige edition has been posted!

I got a shipping confirmation from Game last night, and that's coming via courier delivery. I'm fairly sure that it's just been pre-processed because of the volume of orders, though. It'll probably actually be shipped on Friday or something.

I'd missed that they'd increased the levelling system for Prestige up to 70, hopefully it's balanced out as it's getting stupidly prolongued for each prestige with each release.

And to think, in a couple of weeks work on Call of Duty 8 will begin

I've had the hardened edition on pre-order for ages, but have just cancelled it. I don't really enjoy COD multiplayer as I just get annihilated by some very good players and all the guys from COD4 will be moving over to this, so I don't think I'll stand a chance.

I'm sure the single player will be excellent, but I can wait with so many other games out at the moment.

The only thing that might make me change my mind is Special Ops mode. Anyone seen or played anything of this?

Am i missing something but you cant ghost cam in COD4 so even in party chat your advantage is very limited.

Gears 2 was a totally different story .

In CoD4 party chat breaks one of the perks (eavesdrop), so if it's in MW2 I can understand why IW wouldn't want a repeat of that. Plus, maybe MW2 has fixed cams around the map (a la Gears 1 ) or ghost cams? Anyhoo, having two sets of eyes does make a difference even if you're only watching your buddy's screen. It's easy to miss something when under pressure, but having someone say to you, "hey, wait, over there" is a bit of a swizz for the guy on the other team if he was going to get the drop on you.

If you play with loads of people from the forum and other friends then you should have a fairly good number of pleasant folk to play with for a good few months, certainly enough for a team.

I’ve always been interested in Modern Warfare 2 and was counting on going to a mid-night opening, however a few friends have received work that that their orders could be being shipped out this week with 1 day delivery...

With that in mind I’ve spazzed out and I’ve just placed an order online for it! I would like to go and get it on launch day but like Halo 3 it was fun on launch night, going for a pint and dinner beforehand getting home and playing it all morning and going into work bleary eyed and feeling like I’m going to die...

Deciding I don’t think I could hack that I’ll take either going with this order or buying it in the morning.

Also is anyone going for the Special Edition or the NVG Box? I’m going for the normal version as the art book will be too small to be enjoyable like the COD4 book and although COD1 is good, I played it years ago and COD2 is superior. And if anyone is going for the NVG, then you’ve got more disposable money than I’m willing to fritter away!

I noticed the regular edition is £44.99 on Gamestation's web site, so I hope this is the most they charge in-store too. The Hardened Edition is £69.99 on their site, so I might pass even if they have a spare one because I can't see the Arcade Call of Duty going for the Microsoft Points equivalent of £25 when it's eventually available on there.

On a side note - anyone who has ordered from Tesco direct when they did the 20% disco or any other time for that matter - will receive the game by courier to ensure it arrives on time! (Confirmed by tesco direct by phone).
