I've been tempted by the hardened edition, but at the end of the day, the only worthwhile freebee in my mind would be the call of duty classic download code, which is only another 10 quid normally. The tin strikes me as being one of those cheap, nasty ones which were provided with the likes of halo wars and the first gears of war - they don't stand up well to damage, and the usual plastic sleeve which accompanies them is shoddy.

Has Call of Duty Classic been confirmed for a standalone XBLA release then? Like you said, its the only reason I'm considering upgrading to the hardened edition.

Companies want money. Especially Activision. It will come out on XBLA. Think you get it a bit early with the HE though.

The fact that they value it at 10 quid means they're likely to release it seperately - surely they'd advertise it as an exclusive otherwise?

It timed exclusive to the hardend edition, they havent announced release date for it yet.

Time to ask, where is the cheapest and/or best place to get this with guaranteed delivery for release date?

I've seen several sites already decide that the will upgrade the shipping to courier, Shopto and Gameplay among them, both are selling for £42.99. Coolshop is the cheapest, but I've no idea what they're like for pre-orders.

Anybody have any idea what price the high street shops will charge? I believed it would be £44.99 but that could be (very) wishful thinking on my behalf.

I thought it was a SteelBook type case, like Halo 2 LE, Gears 2 LE, Dead Rising LE, Lost Planet LE, etc.

It is steelbook which are much better quality though i always find the bottom disc holder (if theres 2 ) grips the disc too tight and makes me wince when I pull the dvd out.

GAME has now started processing my order. If I didn't know better I'd say they were worried that someone like Tesco etc is going to undercut the ridiculous pricepoint and that they'd have people cancelling in droves.
