I reckon £130 for the Prestige Edition.

wonder if those are the "see through people's clothes if you use them during the day" variety

Time to put a preorder in then. You know, just incase.

I kinda feel like this is exactly the wrong kind for exactly the wrong time.

Night vision goggles coming with a game? How old is the target market for that? I mean, they are hardly gonna be military grade, they'll be shoddy at best!

Peripheral city, everyone is skint yet people are buying everything. Do people have too much money, or are they whacking it on credit cards?

Oh and I loved DryRice's freudian slip earlier, intentional or not! A "steal book"

It looks like the name is back to Modern Warfare 2 again according to the video.

I'd be tempted to get the "Hardened Edition" of the game for the download but it'll probably be a stupid price due to it letting you download a month early or something and I've never been keen on tin cases.

I'm really hoping that the "Prestige Edition" is going to be prohibitively expensive! I can't help but feel that the sort of people who really need night vision are going to already have it and the sort of people who want to have it after seeing that video are probably the sort of people who should have as many obstacles as possible preventing them from getting hold of it...for everybody else's safety.

It's being released by Activision though so the chances are it'll be a daft price.

I would assume that the code for the original game will be only usable after a certain date?

              Comment

Things like that do usually have an unlock date as far as I'm aware.

I may well be wrong about the original being available earlier with that version but historically those sort of editions are about £10 more expensive & I'm really not seeing any other reason for people to spend more money on it if they don't get it early.

I can't see them selling the original for any more than a maximum £10 as a download. Would people really pay extra just because the game is in a tin box? Maybe they would, Activision certainly know how to work their customers to get a bit of extra cash out of them.

I'm a massive sucker for limited edition stuff, but even I think I'll pass on the Prestige Edition (although I wonder if the goggles will fit my Halo cat helmet?).

I'm glad there's a limited edition though. I like cases, art books and extra games. I wonder if they will allow those who order this version to download it early before it becomes available to buy on XBLA or PSN, like the Halo mythic maps or Banjo Kazooie.

Yeah im a sucker for stuff like this and love CoD but i think it will be the steelbook for me unless its a nice price! (yeah right)

is the Call of Duty classic code also included in the standard edition? and will the DLC be exclusive in any form or free to get for everyone from day one?

                      Comment

The video inferred that the classic code is only available in the Limited Edition and Prestige packs. I imagine it will be available to all, but without the code you'll have to pay for it.

That'll be why the steelbook is (apparently) £20 more than the standard edition...

So you'd be paying £75? £20 more to download Call of Duty 1?

I'm staying well away until I can get the game for around £30. I think Activision are really taking the piss.

That's what I read on Gaf this morning, so I have no reason to doubt it being true

Man, I went into town earlier to trade some games - I came out having traded nothing in, because I was genuinely shocked that in store prices are still at the ?40-?45 bracket. Even though the net cost to me would have been less I suspect, I really don't want to support those prices (Not to mention that I couldn't get any sealed versions of the games I wanted, and we all know that unsealed and pre-owned are likely to be one and the same).

Anyhoo, back to topic. I don't think the pricing is a question of value, it's a question of Activision knowing that they can get away with charging a premium for this game specifically - I think it's a real shame. I'll be leaving it as late as possible to get the best deal possible, and I'm going to have to go for one of the LEs because the original is still the best game in the series if you ask me and I'd love to have it on PSN.
