GTa IV was like gold dust for the first week on release here(glasgow)?.

Back OT, rrp doesnt matter so Im sure there will be a decent pre-order price floating around.

    Update:

Just had a quick scout around and everywhere is selling at 45 quid pre-order. What a joke, activision should be ashamed of themselves.

They know its gonna sell by the bucketload and quite frankly why should we pay over the odds for a game that more than likely will see one map pack then dumped on its arse for COD WAW 6 or whatever you want to call it.

My major grumble about cod4 is the lack of suppoort it had compared to Halo 3 and even WAW. Now they want over the odds money for it too.

Most def petition time for sure.

I played through the COD4 campaign about 3 times and put hours into the multiplayer.

I have spent ?45 on far worse things and the amount of enjoyment I got from COD4 far outweighed the cost and if CODMW2 costs me ?45 on day of release I will get it day and date and know that it will be ?45 well spent.

I think saying that Activision should be ashamed of themselves is coming on a bit strong. Hours and hours of good quality entertainment is well worth ?45.

Well the limit has to be set somewhere. It's like saying I got 100's and 100's of hours out of Left 4 Dead. So they could think, it's worth £70 for the sequel.

I myself don't pay more than £38 for a new game (as you can always search around to pre-order at that price) unless it's a special edition.

There are other game's which provide hours and hours of gaming and were released at alot less than 45 quid.

Halo 3, GTA IV, to name a couple.

Additional map packs , game add ons etc do cost money yes and if you want to buy them it all adds up but the games I have mentioned did not cost 45 quid pre-order.

So once the 1st map pack come's out your looking at 50+ pounds total price spent if you buy them. (based on approx 8 quid for map pack?)

Alot of other developers release games at 32.99 and they have a long shelf life , Activision cant........?

I would like to hear the explanation for the game being sold at 45 pre order!.

Yeah, the fact that the majority of us here are "willing" to pay £45 for the MW2 doesn't cover up the fact that the price is unusually high. Like someone already mentioned, I thought the days of having to pay £40+ for a standard copy of a game were gone.....guess not eh?!

I mean if the majority of online retailers are selling it for £45 then I can imagine high street retailers (GAME and Gamestation) will have no problems charging £50 for it.

They're fleecing the customers because they know they'll pay. Unfortunately, most people will.

I'll wait and see which supermarket loss-leads it, and pick it up there.

The argument that it gives XXXX hours so is worth more is flawed, as thus "shorter" games should cost much less.

It all depends on your perceived value from the product.

They key phrase you used is "if you want to buy". We are discussing paying an extra fiver for a luxury product. It would be a scandal if every super market started charging more for all their food as we need food but want games.

As it is, Activision feel that their product is worth that much money, if you don't feel it is fair enough, it's nothing to get angry about though.

Im not getting angry , the point Im making is MW2 is 45 quid to buy and Halo 3 and 2 map packs (at release) cost 49 quid (£8 approx per pack).

Compared to other games its not value for money and cost's more to buy than the original at release.

Why does it cost so much on release? for just a couple pounds more at relase the original and 1 map pack cost 48 quid.

For me it reeks of greed.

Yeah it's nothing to get immensely worked up about. I guess it's just annoying that we are being fleeced by the retailers/Activision (nicely put Chain).

They know this is probably the most anticipated game of the year and they are milking it for all it is worth. Makes good business sense for them obviously but leaves a slightly bitter taste in the mouth of the customer.

That prestige edition looks fracking awesome with a real working night vision googles.
Good thing about the Limited Edition is that it comes in a steal book and a code to download Call of Duty 1 on the xbla or psn.

Take a look at the prestige edition its unbelievable.

Probably just flukey where I come from, the GTA's in particular I've never had trouble getting hold of

....... to be fair though I probably will preorder now as I can't see me resisting that Prestige Edition. Probably gonna cost an absolute fortune though. It's utterly stupid though that the standard edition has the Call of Duty name on it but the LE and PE editions don't. They need to sort out the marketing properly for this.

Cool as that is, it's going to cost stupid money. I think goggles like that retail for about £300 to start.

I expect the goggles will be useless but that is pretty cool, though I'm sticking with the standard edition as per usual!

Nah they're blatently going to be IR with green filter cheapo ones! You won't be able to see more than a few feet in front of you.

I could be wrong, but these bonuses are always useless.
