I can do all the boss rush except the new guy whos at the end of it with the fire rock things he throws at you (Fire Leo is it?). There seemed to be no way at all to do damage to him, and you couldnt save it just before you fought him so had to do every single boss in the game again the next time you played it.

This type of thing was acceptable back on the Nes when you couldnt save most games (though even then id be hoping for a password at some point) but in this day and age its ridiculous to be honest.

Pulsing slow was the way to school Fire Leo - I agree that the lack of save was questionable, but then it didn't take too long to race through the boss rush once you'd worked each one out...I broke my wavebird fighting Leo, mastering him was one of my Cube gaming highlights.

I don't think the VJ boss rush was particularly hard on kids mode.

I never went through on Adult mode, but yeah, I can imagine it was tough.

Great timing for this thread because we've just got the ole C64 working again and I am playing one of my favourite games - Hercules. It is so BLOODY hard!

Foregoing such normal gaming conventions as fairness and logical moves, you are put into a room where any platform you see can turn into flames if you touch it, any platform you land on can disappear without warning, platforms can appear from nothing and anything in the level that moves is lethal to you!

Couple that with 3 lives to get through I honestly don't know how many levels but at least 40 I would guess (12 challenges of Hercules, most with more than 3 rooms) and you will cry before completing it.

Despite the ridiculous unfair trial and error gameplay, as I say it is one of my all time fave C64 games, it just screams one more go to you as you die, learning one more thing not to do in one of the rooms.

Heres a link in case you have no idea what Im talking about:

Heh, oh yeah Hercules. Are you gonna try Gods and Heroes as well afterwards?

I also found the level "in Mario Sunshine i think it was" that had all the spinning wood stupidly frustrating. It was the last one of those levels which was quite a big level where you had to wall jump then run along rotating and spinning planks of wood etc.

Took about 90 attempts to get past it. I found it a nightmare

I'm all for games having skills to learn and harder difficulties to go with these skills but when "Normal" becomes frustrating then there's a problem IMO

                  Ninja Gaidens
                  DOA4
                  F-Zero GX
                  Viewtiful Joe
                  God Hand

I finished and generally enjoyed them (loved some) but "Normal" was not normal by any stretch of the imagination.

Also people don't like to play games on easy, it's like admitting defeat before you start!

Bemani games get ridiculously tough, and there's certain things in the game that a very select few people worldwide can achieve. Take this for example. They keep getting harder and harder too.

I have no time for difficult games. Before the 360 The Action replay was my weapon of choice. Couldn't of made it through some games without it.

I just want to play the game and finish what i've paid for - why is that too much to ask? why does it have to feel like you are being punished for buying the game?

Ninja Gaiden 1/2 springs to mind as does DMC3.

Infact i think most cheap and difficult games are japanese.

WTF.. he won't struggle to get a typists job Like watching someone do thunderforce on GH3 on expert.

I find all games like that and rhythm games in general where you have to have very nimble fingers, very difficult once it gets fast. Hats off to that
