lololol
If it was about the SE/TE talk, I know how Sanwa chat gets people riled up on here but it sounded to me like Wools didn't know/realise the main difference between the two is the parts. It's like when I was little and some of my mates with Nike Airs were convinced they made them run faster
I'm of the camp that believes everyone has the right to use Sanwas even if they dunno what a Street Fighter is.

Personally i like the slopped layout if the hrap and the madcatz te.
As far as getting one i'd start by playing with a few if you know someone who has some. At first I wouldn't worry about sanwa or siemitsu parts too much, most sticks could be upgraded or moded at a later date. I'd recommend you go for something with an eight button layout, with an eight button layout you can try a straight layout and a curved layout and see which you prefer. the last thing you want to do is buy a costly high spec stick with a layout that you cant get comfortable on.Last edited by concretesnail; 02-08-2009, 17:43.

Thanks for all your helpful advice Billy.

All I'm saying is that if you're a novice then don't go flying in spending £100+ on apparatus you might not feel the benefit of. A £40 stick will likely serve you just fine.
And I'm not some elitist prick like the majority of you probably think. I've been gaming for many years, and I'm very much set in my ways. I enjoy gaming in my own little way, and I always will.Last edited by J0e Musashi; 02-08-2009, 18:35.Kept you waiting, huh?

I have to say, I'd agree with Joe. If you are getting your first stick, there is little point in dropping £100 on it unless you are confident with it - am sure there are many here that have peripherals in their cupboard! You can get a basic HORI for a reasonable price and then upgrade (two sticks are handy...) if you feel you need to. Arcade parts are designed for regular, hardened use and most will not need them or even appreciate them imho - it is a little like putting aerospace parts in a family shopper. The HRAPs and stuff are *better* than the arcades in the UK anyway unless you have been playing in some exotic, and well-maintained, locales.

It's a sensible point but there is a noticeable difference in quality between stock parts and those from manufacturers like Sanwa/Seimitsu- the step up from the stick in an EX2 to the Sanwa in a HRAP is obvious, even to a layman such as myself.
Perhaps the best thing to do is play exclusively with a cheap stick, so you won't know what you're missing.
