I've seen a few people like that who feel they need to bash the **** out of the machine in order to do anything, then when they see me play they can't understand how light and gentle movements are much more precise.

Seriously though, you'll find theres no need to bash it when playing, it just tires you out and is unprecise if anything.

Yeah, I'm paranoid about people busting my sticks too.

At uni there was this guy who'd basically have an epileptic fit on our DC sticks and we just looked at him as if wtf are you doing. I guess some people just don't know theres no need to do it, its completely pointless. I don't mind if its their own stuff, but when its someone elses its just bad manners and no respect for peoples things.

Like at the IC09 show I saw someone beating the crap out of the buttons on the vewlix machines I almost asked him what he thinks he's achieving. I can see how machines out on site get knackered so easily.

I don't bash the **** our of the buttons I just tend to hit the buttons harder then I need to but I tend to push buttons hard anyway I know of it is bad but I am trying not to hit it hard and I think blazblue is the one that may help me not

I'm gentle on the buttons but tend to be pretty heavy on the stick, just the way I'm used to playing. Having said that I've seen people even worse than me just totally jamming the stick into the directions they want.

If you're a COD guy who fancies trying out what this new fighting game revival is all about then there's no way you're even gonna be able to tell the difference when you play. Of course if money is no object then the purchase of a higher quality stick would be a natural thing anyway.
Cost is an important factor that is being a bit overlooked. While it's true that many people have gone overboard with their custom sticks since SFIV was released, the relatively cheap cost of upgrading a stock stick to one with 'proper' arcade parts of a higher quality is undoubtedly a major incentive.

The VSHG certainly seems like an excellent stick but why would full representation of your console's inputs on the stick be a bad thing?

You may be better off (PS3 at least) with one of these, and do it yourself for half the price.

My copy of King of Fighters XII arrived yesterday so gave it a quick go with the SF4 TE Stick. I've dabbled over the years with several sticks and variants as I've never been a massive fan of them over standard pads but with this generations controls being so shocking for fighters I've been increasingly looking at them (got a SFIV controller too). Had to use the stick with it resting on my lap thanks to the lack of space in my room but after that go I'd say I do like it. Very responsive and was never uncomfortable to use.

whats the appeal of the namco ps1 sticks? they seem quite popular. not that i know anything about arcade sticks but i just find it interesting people choose to use 10+ year old equiptment.

I don't know, I just like them, they are well built, cheap and responsive for a stock stick, plus with a ps2->usb converter they'll work on ps1,ps2,ps3,pc.

I used to wonder why everyone rated them too, but now I have one and they are a great all round solid stick. It's far superior to the like of the Hori EX stick on the 360.

Plus the one I got off ebay recently was basically new boxed, it feels completely new, well chuffed with it, its a great little stick for roms on the pc or whatever, sf4 on ps3

Has anyone seen the limited edition San Diego Comic Con SFIV TE???

                                Looks sexay as hell.
Only 250 PS3 in the world as well (Not sure on 360 though)

I actually prefer it to the original release.
