That depends on whether or not you're only into JRPGs - you've listed all the ones on the console, unless Eternal Sonata (which I happened to like) is Trusty Bell.

Oblivion and Fallout 3 are both very much worth having, if you enjoy western rpgs (although chances are you'd have played them if you do)

Yeah my bad, Trusty Bell = Eternal Sonata. The eastern name is too funny not to use

I might be dabbling in Fallout 3 at some point in the near future, but was really looking to poll people's opinions on the newer JRPGs that weren't covered when this thread came around the first time.

The Last Remnant is top stuff, the most refreshing JRPG I've played in a while, and one to go for if you're looking for a bit of experimentation and 'risk-taking' with the battle system. I'm playing through it myself and really enjoying it.

I've no idea what the 360 version is like (I'm playing PC), I hear it's buggier, but it surely can't be gamebreaking.

The 360 version of Last Remnant is pretty shonky to be honest. Be prepared for lots of texture pop-in and slowdown during battles.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope is fun, but *very* traditional and with a pretty predictable storyline.

I'm not sure there's really anything of merit on the platform except Lost Odyssey to be honest. FF13 might help, but I'll be importing that on PS3 from the states long before we see the 360 version here in Europe.

Yeah. The 360 has the most J-RPGs of the 3 home formats of this generation but very few of them actually standout in my opinion.

The two real premier examples (Lost Odyssey and Tales of Vesperia) you've already cleared. I would say that I actually quite liked Blue Dragon. It's incredibly derivative (even more so than LO) but it has a good battle system, surprisingly decent storyline (especially in the latter stages where it becomes a lot darker than the initial "twee" sections suggested) and a cool art style.

You need to put up with some annoying characters (although switching the voice language sorts that out in my opinion.

If you're looking for something closer to Fallout 3, maybe Borderlands is what you're after?

I'm a JRPG nut. I would recommend Star Ocean. Magna Carta if you can get it cheap isn't bad.

Infinite Undiscovery and Last Remnant are ok..... don't go out of your way to play them. Trusty Bell is really good once your party starts to increase. I really really enjoyed it.

There's a scene in Trusty Bell, you'll know the one I mean if you've played it, where they're trying to really make it seem sad but it's the most unintentionally hilarious scene ever. It contains a flashback to the scene *just before it*. That you sat through only 5 minutes before. I played on a bit, but my heart wasn't really in it after that...

I also loved Eternal Sonata, one of my favourite RPGs thanks to Chopin and Motoi.

However out of the ones you mentioned, definately Star Ocean, I found it brilliant and actually thought the story was pretty strong, especially the ending, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Has extra dungeons, arena, everything you expect form a high class RPG.

Star Ocean sounds like the safe bet, cheers guys. I did buy the original Magna Carta on the back of loving the artwork but didn't get on with it too well - willing to give the second one a chance but I think it's all about getting the price right.

Well, my experience with Star Ocean wasn't good at all. I got it from love film the other day, popped it in my 360 for 30 minutes, and popped it back into an envelope straight after. I thought it was horrible. Generic graphics, boring looking characters/character design, horrible voice acting, the camera was atrocious and the battles bored the hell out of me.

Eternal Sonata, on the other hand, I absolutely loved. Probably my favourate RPG on the 360. Beautiful graphics, and once you unlock better party levels, fun gameplay. Not getting all the hate on this game tbh.
