PSP Go!

It's starting to become clear that Sony should have given the specs of the Go a bit of a boost (Wii-style incremental upgrade, so they can retain backwards compatibility and sell existing PSP games on PSN) and sold the machine as a 'PSP 2', rather than a new version of the existing PSP. This would have ensured that there would be no problems regarding 'replacement' digital software for existing users (because no-one would be expecting one), ensured the PSP-3000/4000 doesn't canabalise the sales of the Go (because they could of discontinued the existing hardware), and given existing PSP owners a reason to purchase the new hardware. It would be fair to assume that Sony would like to run down UMD production (seeing as it has little value to them outside of the PSP) and get people going the digital distribution route asap.
This could have been achieved quite easily as it all comes down to marketing and how they promote it. They could have also sold existing PSP titles over PSN (like they do PS1 titles), and no-one would be expecting to be entitled to an automatic upgrade.

Would you need that much save space on a 3000?
As someone with only a handful of PSP games and an open mind to digital distribution I also see the free downloads as kind of a good deal, the problem I have (aside from regional restrictions) is that there's been no indication that the PSP back catalogue will be made available for download (free or otherwise).
If there's no access to Lumines/Outrun/Parodius then the PSP-Go would be left at home and it would be the 1000 that I take with me, as those are the games I really want to play.
The lack of support for pro duo memory sticks bothers me too, as I have several that I use with my PSP/PS3 and camera. I think that was what tipped the balance for me into not wanting one anymore.

This certainly isn't going to be for everybody and people who aren't interested have nothing to lose by ignoring it completely.
I'm importing one from the US, I've got family over there so it's going to cost me around ?130 delivered. With that I'll get 4 games included and luckily there are actually 4 games that I would have been tempted to pay for too.
I really wasn't expecting any games with the new model & I'm very surprised that Sony are actually giving them away.
It's unfortunate really, It would have been far better if Sony had completely ignored retails with the original release and had that as download only. I think until high street retail is removed the process online retail of things like this will never evolve to let different companies selling game codes at prices to compete with other online shops.
This is a very, very small step in that direction but it will happen wether people want it to or not.

I think what I find so frustrating about the Go! is that in theory, it'd be great to be able to carry all my games around with me on the console. But the ridiculous price of the games, and the inability to convert any of the 30-40 games I already own makes it completely unattractive.
Also I'm slightly annoyed by the knowledge that I'm bound to crack and buy one of the sodding things anyway.
