Dead Space's world is an incredibly involving one. I love all mythology, mystery and whatnot connected with it, and those animated comic strips were very well done indeedy.

Additonally, Dead Space Extraction was an impressive experience on the Wii, though has sold horribly (shame, because it really is very good).

The original Dead Space on the 360 sold fairly well considering it wasn't a sequel to an already established and popular franchise, so here's hoping the sequel will do even better. If its quality is anything like the original, then it certainly deserves to.

Dead Space 2 was officially announced yesterday by EA and Visceral Games. Yay! Although we all knew it was coming I guess.

Details are pretty sparse at the moment but we do know that Isaac Clarke (the dude from the original game) will be returning. Also according to the developers we can expect more twists in the plot, more scares and more disgustingly horrifying necromorphs.

Isaac will also have a cool new suit.

Awesome, can't wait. Dead Space is one of my favourite games of this generation.

Kind of disappointed that Issac's back if I'm brutally honest.

I'd like to see a new protagonist instead of an Engineer who's become the Gordon Freeman of Dead Space's universe. That said I'll get over it and I'm sure this is going to be brilliant

Remember though, "in space no-one can you scream".

In Isaac's case that is because he doesn't scream in the first place, or maybe he knows no-one can hear that's why he doesn't talk/scream at all....no?

            I'll get my my coat.

Kind of surprised to see Isaac back also.

Especially since at the end of the first game your dead necromorph wife lunges at you implying she killis you, all because you did not display any emotion other than a facepalm when watching her final goodbye video. Of course they could show another side to that where Isaac plasma cuts her into tiny pieces and continues to fight the good fight, thus setting up Dead Space 2.

Still a highly deserved sequel, continue on from the fantastic first game. Finished it a few times and actually enjoyed each playthrough more than previous plays.

The debate is to whether she

was actually there as a Necromorph, or was instead just a hallucination caused by the marker etc.

It's a good debate which is open to interpretation, I saw it as

Isaac escaped and the markers influence was gone, you were on a ship in space feeling safe then bamn your wife/necromorph is onboard and kills you. Part of me also thought there was no intention to make it a series and they ended it that way cause it had a big impact, no one survived the event. Even the main character died and it was a cool way to end it.

I want to play it again now.

I went back and played about it two months ago - loved it all over again

I think you're right about not planning a sequel. As far as I can tell there are two theories but neither of them seem to offer a proper explanation about her.

First one is pretty straight forward and that she was a Necromorph and had snuck on board the ship, so was actually there.

However that doesn't really explain why Issac was seeing her in human form around the ship earlier when she unlocked the door for him (he had to defend her from the Necromorphs).

Just seems a bit weak that she would have managed to survive all that time as a Necromorph and just happen to make it on to the ship at the end.

Also (and I didn't notice this until it was pointed out to me) that the chapter titles spell out

                    Chapter 01: New Arrivals
                    Chapter 02: Intensive Care
                    Chapter 03: Course Correction
                    Chapter 04: Obliteration Imminent
                    Chapter 05: Lethal Devotion
                    Chapter 06: Environmental Hazard
                    Chapter 07: Into the Void
                    Chapter 08: Search and Rescue
                    Chapter 09: Dead on Arrival
                    Chapter 10: End of Days
                    Chapter 11: Alternate Solutions
                    Chapter 12: Dead Space)

Second theory is that she was just a hallucination caused by the marker. However, as you said the problem with that is that the marker and the hive mind had both been destroyed by the end of the game so surely their influence would have stopped. Unless Issac didn't destroy them all or there's more to it than we know?

Neither of the answers is really satisfactory for me and just feel crowbarred in. The way the game ended is another reason why I'd prefer a new character in the lead. They could leave what happened

                    to him as a `The Thing`

style ending where you're never quite sure.

                    Much more interesting that way.

I reckon they will give him a voice in the 2nd game.It was my one major gripe with the game, it didn't work on a gordon freeman level because its third person.

Playing Dead Space again in anticipation of getting 'Extraction' for crimbo.
Unlike Zero9X though I don't want to hear Issac speaking, no, no, no, no, no.
During my current playthrough I've been trying to imagine just what Isaac would say at certain points in Dead Space if he had a voice and I'm just not seeing it, unless it was "Fookin' morphs....That all ya got?" or "Okey Boss" when asked to fix the tram.

The silent Isaac definately lets the player make up his own mind on how he/she feels about the incidents he retrospectively gets to learn of through the videologs/texlogs etc. To have Isaac make a comment, f'r instance when he sees how..

                        The Ishimura's Captain was dispatched

such as "Harsh. I'll avenge you." wouldn't help matters at all ihmo.

I feel that because Isaac was silent in this first game, they should continue that tradition.

Having said that though, I am getting a bit tired of having a silent protaganist (not that there's anything wrong with that), but it's a welcomed change to have more of a personality to the character in games like Uncharted or the upcoming Alan Wake.

Eurogamer have posted an article on Dead Space 2...
After a bare-bones reveal on Monday, developer Visceral Games has fleshed out Dead Space 2, confirming multiplayer, an …

Confirming Isaac will indeed open his gob. I do hope they get a good script-writer.

Excellent! The problem i had with him being silent is that when you had another person talking to you, he just stood there like a silly ninny, only sometimes he would be emotive in a really small form. Just hope he doesn't have Nathan Drake voicing him, god his voice is used in everything and its getting quite annoying, he sounds the same in everything he does.

This just lends more credence to my theory that they should be going with a whole new character here.

Because Issac didn't speak he was a blank sheet - they'd be better of wiping things clean if he's going to start emoting.
