Having just watched the review on gamespot this looks to have turned out even worse that I'd feared.

What to call it though, Castlevania: Prince of War, Castlevania God of Persia or Castlevania: Among Bats?

Hell the **** N64 games looked more faithful to the series than this.

I guess you can't blame Konami, these kind of faceless action games tend to sell quite well.

Did I just play another GOW demo?

They really need it, Castlevania as popular as it is in the hardcore crowd it doesn't sell very well.

For what it is and what i've played its definetly a steller action title. Could do with one like this as i was severly dissapointed with GoW3.

I think this is going to be amazing. Try and tell me curse of darkness was a decent attempt at a 3d CV after playing this.

My last lingering memory of a 3D Castlevania was the woeful PS2 game, I even forget what it was called.

This looks better than that - it is better, right?

There were 2 PS2 Games. Lament was a decent attempt (1st) and Curse was a step backwards....although, opinion is divided.

Some people tend to like COD...I can't imagine why, or how it even compares to 3D action games from around that time. It is dreadful. Really bad.

I think so too. Every year I put a game aside to buy myself as an Xmas treat (haha pretty sad, I know ) and this year I think it's gonna be Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

I preferred COD to LOI, neither were great though. They did retain something of the Castlevania feel for me. The excellent music in COD really kept me playing through if nothing else.

This new one looks awful, nothing of what I've seen so far reminds me of Casltevania's wonderful heritage. Hopefully the music will be evocative if nothing else is but I'm bot holding my breath.

Eh, I don't see the problem. If it's a good game (which it sounds like it is) then nothing else matters. Besides, if you read what Strider put - perhaps the only person in the thread to play the final game - then it plays more like the earlier titles than the games of the last decade.

The music in COD was absolutly beautiful. It had that Metroidvania style about it, sure everything was copy and pasted in areas but i enjoyed it, hell of alot more than LOI and i loved that. So I can't really win here! :P

                      Michiru Yamane I LOVE YOU!

I'll never forgive IGN for giving Lament of Innocence a high score (9.2 I think it might have been). I had such high hopes going into that game.

IGN just shows a lack of expertise because they make it seem as if Symphony of the Night and its gazillion carbon copies were IGA lived of for the past 13 years are the Castlevania standard.

What about CV1, Simon's Quest, Rondo of Blood, Castlevania IV? Those are different games too. Castlevania wasn't always a Metroid rip off. They fail to mention what exactly defines a Castlevania game besides the music and characters cliche. To my knowledge this is another new Belmont dude however.

Their scores are awkward too, although I know the final score is not an average. An 8.0 for Lasting Appeal and being labeled as a 'gigantic game with lots of replay value' doesn't really add up imo. Especially not in 2010 between all these usual 9 hour adventures.

I didn't hate Curse of Darkness, but I think the LoS demo blows it out of the water already.

Castlevania Bloodlines aka Castlevania The New Generation on the MD was supurb too. I don't know why Konami didn't allow someone to make a 2d action platformer on the ds like they did with Contra 4.

If no one has played Bloodlines/The New Generation check it out. Supurb game!

Yup, New Generation is good. But I'm sure its not true CV, I mean check those present day settings.

Back when different consoles received all different games with the same name.
