    Wow, absolutely.

Never played CoD but those tunes are wonderful and spot-on for Castlevania.

      Agreed wholeheartedly.

I think the music is the single most important thing in the Casltevania atmosphere. If the new one can't get this right it will be a failure in my eyes. Even a game as mediocre as CoD was worth struggling through to hear that brilliant music.

Do not have great hopes for this (am a huge Castlevania fan and well... yeah), but did not realise it was out! VGP are shipping US limited editions now, is there anything worth waiting for on the PAL side of life or should I stump up the dollar?

It's out here next week, I doubt VGP will get it to you before you can just walk into GAME and pick it up.

There is no Limited Edition for the UK it seems I've got a friend coming over from the states at the end of the month, so she's bringing me the Limited Edition with the free CastleVania T-Shirt GameStop had over there. If you don't want the artbook and soundtrack though, shop to or somewhere for £33 seems like the best bet.

I thought the demo was horrendous, but it didn't seem like it was the slightest bit representative of the game as it was basically a combat tutorial scene and then a horse back section. There was no actual exploration in it or any puzzles.

I thought it was still coming, but that it was planned for the end of this month for some bizarre reason?

Yes, I concur! Of the 3 released during the 16-bit era on the SNES, PCE and MD, (IV, Rondo and Bloodlines), I actually think Bloodlines is my favourite. Rondo was and still is ace, and was the favourite for a long time, but I've slowly warmed to Bloodlines even more in recent playthroughs thanks to all the scaling and crazy set-pieces it has. Konami really knew how to work the MD and it's a terrific showpiece with super control.

I have never been able to enjoy IV sadly, no matter how many times I try to replay it.

Don't give Konami ideas! They'll only outsource it to a mediocre western dev who'll just copy bits and pieces from older games.

*still bitter about the new Silent Hill*

Seems like as good a place as any to post this:

Part 1 of a Castlevania retrospective, no idea when to expect part 2.

Nice post. Vampire Killer (MSX) is the only Castlevania I have never owned in physical original form, apart from that, have owned them all and completed, save curse of darkness, too awful, haunted castle, too difficult.

Have you ever had the X68000 version? I would like it but there's no way I'm paying up for the system to play it on too, so Castlevania Chronicles shall suffice for me

Ahhh..didnt mean to mislead...played it on Chronicles

I'm playing through Chronicles at the moment, from PSN. I don't like the fact you can't jump off or onto stairs, something the 16-bit games allowed, but something the recent Wii instalment lacked. It totally changes the game's dynamic by allowing this.

While the post SOTN titles are great, there really haven't been any CVs quite like the 16-bit trilogy.

I can't choose between the 3 16bit titles. (only buying CVIV at the time)

You'd think that would make it firm favourite, but I love Rondo and Bloodlines/New Generation.

I really dislike Simons quest, horrible game. Glad I didn't play that at the time, having played the original on the NES by good fortune at release.

My favourite Castlevania is Aria of Sorrow. Perfection.
