    Quality!

What I would class as my worst mistake would have to be either:

    (a) - choosing Earthworm Jim over Super Metroid when I was young and stupid, or

    (b) - not playing Phantasy Star Online back in the magical days of the Dreamcast. Probably the only game I regret 'missing' out on.

i think i must have been blessed with my video game experiences because I've been sitting here desperately trying to think of something else to share but my mind is blank. Erm.... ?

I think my problem is that i'm unhealthily stubborn. If i find something bettering me i'll try that bit harder to make sure i'm not beaten... It's all good though, because it always escalates that wonderful punch-air-with-satisfaction moment :-)

Not paying attention to the instructions in Mugen Kouro and wondering why I couldn't hit the main ships when they were at the back of the enemy formation...You have to take out the ones at the front first...

Playing PSO all day and suddenly my controller not working and not being able to save my progress. Then turning off the console and discovering I'd accidentally changed the channel on my wavebird so it didn't match the receiver. Not happy.

Attempting to mod a MegaDrive and a Master System and ruining them in the process. Also buying a NeoGeo Home System from Raven Games.

Lots of video game mistakes for me, mainly on the line of stopping playing x game half way through and finding I couldn't go back to it. (though I was able to get back into my Oblivion save file after three years of non-play) Buying a PSP at American launch which I've only really used as a bulky expensive MP3 player. I didn't want one, knew it wasn't for me but was seduced by it's looks. I regret not saving Paul Denton in Deus Ex and not betraying UNATCO sooner, regret buying 10 wii games in New York, the majority of which I've never played. The others I played for about ten minutes or so before getting bored.

But the worst video game mistake I have ever made, which is also one of my biggest life mistakes, is getting a job in an independent video game store which remarkably is still going and where even more remarkably I'm still working at after seven long years. It sucked the passion of gaming out of me, made me realise people actually bought wrestling games and compromised my morals slightly. But I found this site because of the shop and in it's better years was a great place to pick up good and rare games at a reasonable (or ridiculously cheap) price, so it wasn't all bad.

Paying ?80 for Daytona US on the Jap Saturn many moons ago to a stupid Indie store. I was VERY dissapointed with the game. I must admit i was naively expecting arcade quality visuals........... and the price tag alone made it even more important that the game had to look pretty (young teen = graphics whore). I can't believe i made my Dad pay that hard earned cash for the game........... Sorry Dad!

Years ago my Nan went to Canada and told me I could have one game on the Snes, I searched for ages through magazines to find the one game I wanted...and Bingo!! I'd spotted the next big thing, the next Mario and the next Sonic all rolled into one.

I asked her for Busby the Bobcat.

Trading in all my Master System games, at least a dozen, for about ?2 or ?3 each to buy Bomberman 64. From then on I have vowed to NEVER SELL A SINGLE VIDEOGAME EVER AGAIN*. I still love Bomberman 64 though.

*Unless it's proper parp. And I mean proper.

I played through most of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time without realizing that you could take out your sword and flail away at bats, birds etc.

I had to retry some sections SO many times.

I could count all but a handful of RPGs that I've actually finished, because I always end up skipping battles or just not grinding enough and hitting a point where it becomes so hard that I can't do it. You could count the 'proper' RPGs that I've finished on one hand.

On a more real-life note, when I was saving up to buy an N64 with Mario 64 at launch I sold my SNES with ~25 games, including all the big ones (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Street Fighter, etc) for ?100

I traded my SNES with 30+ games, with those same big tiles in it.... for a copy of Marvel Super Heroes on the PS1.

I loved it at the time but what a ****wit I was...
