is there any point to the remote play function?

set it up and can happily browse the ps3 using it but anything I try to open says "media cannot be used in remote play".

do the games etc need to be specifically designed to use it or am I being dim??

Games don't need to be designed for it, but there is basically a flag that says "remote play = yes" that needs to be set, and for 99% of games it's "remote play = no". So at present, it can only be used if you're running cfw and can modify the files. However, sony have said that in future they will enable it for all games. The vita can do it with better quality than PSP, but that will only be on certain games that have been specifically designed for it, most won't.

I've only used Remote play a few times. And oddly enough each time I only tried ps3 and ps1 games. Vita said no to ps3, but yes to ps1. Was playing jap Street Fighter Zero2 over it

Sony has 'announced' several new games for the Vita. I say it with brackets because several of them were either already announced or known about. The titles listed are:

Well that's a bit poor. I see they removed the psp phantasy star game from from the psn. Id understand if a new pso game was just around the corner but the new one isn't out until next year. And probably won't see it over here.
I can't help but feel we are going to waiting ages for psone game playback on the vita.

HMV were doing a deal where you can get a WiFi Vita + Rayman Origins for ?239. I asked if I could switch Rayman with WipEout 2048, which was fine. So essentially got WipEout 2048 for a tenner Only grabbed a 4GB card for now, given the prices are still silly.

Need a case though - what kind of cases have people bought?

I got the ones in the starter pack, just using the soft pouch for now. Main reason for the starter kit was for the screen protector and the wrist strap. I guess it depends on your environment and what you prefer. Got my bf the clean and protect pouch today and it's pretty good... not exactly at the cleaning part tho.
