Oh yes, Bioshock 2 and God of War 3 are definite day one purchases for me. It says a lot about how detached I am from the release calendar now that I couldn't think of any games due out in 2010 when I posted last (I didn't think hard admittedly, but I kid ye not NOTHING popped in there!).

What I'm looking for in 2010:
A reason to own a Wii that wasn't a game release in its first year
The PS3 finally getting a selection of RPGs; Tales of Vesperia, Ar Tonelico 3, Persona 5 (just show it off already Atlus! Everyone knows it's being made), FFXIII.
The DS2. The DS has stagnated, only Ninokuni and DQIX to look forward to really. New games are struggling to sell because of the insanely large catalogue of titles on the system.
Kingdom Hearts BBS. Looks absolutely incredibly, looks like they were putting all their resources into this rather than put half on this and half on KH3.
Developers continuing the trend of making quality licence adaptations. More games with the love for the source that we saw with Batman:AA and Ghostbusters please!
The fact that we finally have western publishers releasing ultra niche games. I thought it'd be a cold day in hell before we ever got a Sakura Taisen game in the West. Ghost Light's localisation of Agarest: Generations of War may be so bad it ruined the game but at least Aksys are giving it a proper translation. Could we even see a western release of Love+ or Tokimeki memorial PSP?

I hoping 2010 brings some more surprise hits like Arkham but as it is I'm looking forward to a few things like Bayonetta, Lost Planet 2, Sin and Punishment 2, Espgaluda II, R-Type (iPhone), the new 2d Sonic game and any other traditional shooters for the 360 that Cave, GRev etc care to port.

Oh yeah, same thoughts on the PS3 RPGs but add to that Bayonetta, Resident Evil 5 Alternate Edition and Super Street Fighter 4 and there you go (cos I'll enjoy busting people up with a guy in handcuffs).

Only two of those games weren't released in the first year, 3 of them are (or soon will be) available for other consoles (4 if the whispers from Marvelous about Murumasa being HD ready are to be believed).
The Wii has been crushingly disappointing for me this year. Wii third party developers have been trying harder but have been rewarded with mediocre sales. Nintendo themselves have been pretty lazy releasing just 3 noteworthy titles: Punch Out Wii (which is 2nd party developed), Wii Sports Resort (mini game collection, Wiimote+ has yet to be used in any notable way since) and NSMB (I'm a lot more charitable to this game after playing it and enjoying but lack of online play is inexcusable).
Still, they've a good chance at redeeming themselves. Zelda Wii, Kid Ikarus, Kirby and Metroid could make for an excellent year from them. However if they keep their '1 title every 4 months' release schedule and it's half filled with SMG1.5 and a Wii vitality sensor mini game collection the reputation knock Nintendo will take will last into the next generation.

Let's see...
Definitely getting these:
-Mass Effect 2
-No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle
-Red Dead Redemption
-Mafia 2
-Alpha Protocol
-Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
-Super Mario Galaxy 2
-Deus Ex 3 (if it comes)
-Zelda Wii (if it comes)
-Yakuza 3 (if it comes out here)
-Heavy Rain (if I'll get a PS3 next year, depends on Yakuza)
Might get these:
-Bayonetta
-Splinter Cell: Conviction
-Final Fantasy XIII
-Alan Wake (if it comes)
-Crackdown 2
Looks like another great year in gaming, yet again.Last edited by Guts; 07-12-2009, 12:50.

The only game that springs to mind as a day one must be bought the second it's available is Gran Turismo 5. I'm a big fan of the series and I know it'll eat up a huge number of gaming hours for me.
I've still to catch up on many of the 2009 high profiles like Batman AA, Assains Creed II, Ratchet & Clank: Crack in Time, Valkria Chronicles, Infamous and Fallout 3 (hell some of those are 2008 ones). Once they are cheap enough and I actually have the spare time I'll catch up with that lot!
I'll keep an eye open on God of War III, the Last Guardian, Final Fantasy XIII etc, but I'll be happy to wait until most of them dip under the sub ?20 bracket before picking them up.

Sad.
