Current consoles can't even do 1080p @ 60fps with an regularity. I'd like to see games taking full advantage of the TV I currently have before buying another one.

Thanks for the heads up. Tried it out yesterday and what an excellent job they have done with the 3D on Motorstorm. Makes a stunning looking game even better and to my suprise I couldn`t notice any frame rate drop either Shame they didn`t patch the full game

hmh, hard to say without seeing it yourself. Easiest way to describe 3D is you feel like your looking through the tv rather than looking at it. The terrain on motorstorm has proper depth to it, along with objects and scenery in general feeling like solid objects rather than just visual imagery flashing by on screen.

Anyone who is in doubt over what 3D offers for gaming, try and sample the motorstorm demo on a 3DTV if you can, i`m sure it will convert a few of the naysayers

i guess Sony's 3D games need a Sony 3D TV to play if you don't want to upgrade your AVR and/or cable to HDMI 1.4 standard. and these have just been released, right?

                    On display this week:

•Games with depth.Sony has announced that PS3s received a software update for playing 3-D games, and the company has several downloadable games available on the PlayStation Network. SOCOM 4 is due later this year, and Killzone 3 is expected next year, both being developed with 3-D features.

The futuristic shooter action game Crysis 2 promises to be the first major game available in 3-D on the three major high-def game platforms when it is released later this year for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PCs. "The success of 3-D movies like Avatar and the introduction of 3-D TVs from the hardware manufacturers tells us that this is the next big movement in entertainment, much like HD was years ago," says Cevat Yerli, CEO of Frankfurt-based Crytek.

Both versions of the game (2-D and 3-D) will have the same content.

Even the game's multiplayer mode will be playable in 3-D. "For games especially, 3-D gives gamers an increased level of immersion, which can enhance an intense experience like Crysis 2," Yerli says.

Worse than that, the vast majority of games are sub-720p @30fps. It's all a bit head-scratching right now.

does anyone know if there is a pc monitor that supports 3d on ps3.

Any 3D capable HDMI TV/monitor would work I would have thought? I don't think the PS3 does anything that any other 3D capable Blu-Ray player can't.

I'm guessing you need an LCD screen that can accept and display a 120hz signal, then some way of getting the sync signal through to your 3D specs/sync generator. Probably not a possibility now unless it's specifically for 3D stuff.

I've been playing Gran Turismo 5, Motorstorm Apocalypse and Killzone 3 in 3D this week and it's very very cool. The in car view in Gran Turismo is incredible, start saving for those 3D tv's guys...
