Amazon's preorders started at around the time of the Amsterdam event and given their now biggest preordered console to date you have to seriously consider that they might not have nearly enough stock to go around.Comment

My wife preordered on the day they became available. She ordered on the game website and then cancelled the order literally 10 minutes later and re-ordered on Amazon so I should be fine. After the euphoria of the E3 anouncement last year I was really excited about what the machine could be achiving - full 3d, and the games line up looked totally fantastic in my eyes.
As time went my interest weened on the system - first the machine would not be released in 2010, then the general lack of any solid information of anything at all answering questions on what I wanted to know.
I must admit I was looking forward to the press confences. I decided to watch the American version as that was where I was most likely to buy the system from. While since then like most I didn't like the reigon locking after so many years of it not being an issue anymore, the price was high but that was expected just abit higher than I would have liked but I was very underwelmed with the range of launch titles.
A friend of mine recently went to one of the launch events and didn't like the 3d effect and turned it off.
Dispite all this I have decided to import a US system from VG+. I have used these many times before and am very happy with the service I get from them. I have ordered Street Fighter as my pack in game offer, along with Pilot Wings and Ridge Racer as extra games. I will finally be able to make my own view on the system. I personally have not experienced 3Dtv or anything like that and feel this is my cheapest way to see what all the fuss is about.
I do think full 3D images without glasses will be the next step for the entertainment industry as a whole in the next few years it might become standard. I am personally happy with my DS XL to play my DS games. I know it might mean taking 3 consoles on trips but I am so used to that bigger screen and am very happy to continue using it. But I do think dispite mixed generally good but not mindblowing reviews on the 3DS I an looking forward to this system and the future games it will bring. I am really looking forward to the virtual console when it comes online too.Comment

Finally managed some hands on time and I left wanting one but the more I thought about it the more I put myself off again.
Played resi mercs, kid icarus, pilotwings, face raiders, AR card, dead or alive, Lego pirates of the Caribbean, monkey ball, Zelda, PES and ridge racer.
I need to ask is there no incar veiw in ridge? I mashed every button to switch with no joy, even tried d-pad as desperate measure. Had some really bad slowdown in 3d on ridge. Most impressive game for me was kid icarus, depth was just lovely. 40mins later in that cube and my eyes were feeling the effect big time, think that's gonna be the main issue with this console, travel combined with 3D effects could be a nightmare for some people.
So yeah I left wanting one as did most people but i have jumped off that hype train and left the early adopters remorseful carriage behind.Comment

How do you think Rayman plays against the Rabbids platformer? I can't justify buying Rayman again at 30 quid and while it offered nothing, new I really enjoyed the Rabbids game when I played it on the tour. Though the demo was very short.
I guess I have the same question of Ridge Racer v Asphalt, I preferred Asphalt though only had 10 mins on each.Comment

It will be interesting to see how the 3DS will hold up in a couple of years time as we will start seeing 2nd gen NGP games, iOS devices will be a couple more generations ahead and will the 3D still keep us fickle sods interested?Comment

I've only played 10 mins of Ridge Racer but it's infinitely superior. Not played Rabbids at all. While I really like Rayman, it's a port of a port of a port. Going to be a tricky one I think.Comment
