I started experiencing 3D on normally 2D surfaces but that was because I forced myself to play Pilot Wings with max-3D setting around 10-12cm from my face on the first day.

It was painful at times, but not as bad as at the cinema where I need to take short breaks from the 3D. I'm all over anything 3D though, regardless of killing my vision.

Ever since messing with those magic eye pictures too much as a teenager my eyes have had a weird problem - if I look at any patterned surface I automatically go a bit cross-eyed and have to concentrate to look at it normally, sometimes it even happens when I'm reading a book. I'm a little wary of any kind of optical tom-foolery to be honest, although I never thought twice about going to see 3D IMAX stuff. Maybe I should have.

I always used to make my nan's wallpaper go '3D' by crossing my vision. I used to think it was a super-power only I had because when I tried explaining it to everyone they never got what I meant.

Yup, reading over the detailed figures for Japan makes the situation pretty clear. Though by the tiniest of fractions the 3DS outsold the PSP (not the other way round) and it's been made clear that the ongoing situation in Japan is affecting sales (especially with the opening launch buzz salvo out the way). Plus, the only game related item to do decent business that week was Final Fantasy IV Complete. It's far from a reflection on the overall popularity of the system.

Still, it's nice to see some happier views on the system. The last few days have begun to feel like a tide of negativity has been turning on the format without any real justifiable reasoning to it. Obviously not across the board but it's felt like some people have treated it a little too much like a new game release where they have a few plays and once the novelty of the new has worn off they sum up an opinion on it or jack it in which still stands as a daft way to approach hardware.

How is the state concerning region locking? Are all 3DS titles lock to their region or is it game specific, aka up to publishers?

Seems like all 3DS titles are region locked and all DS games remain region free.

DSi or DSi enhanced is also region locked.

I'm getting 1-2 Street Passes per day down in sarf landan.

Prediction: One of the national newspapers will blame muggings on Streetpass at some point.

I'm waiting for a 'Nintendo StreetPedo' headline.

Anyone know if StreetPass still works if you're playing a DS game or have a DS game in suspend mode? (Ie. the 3DS is just shut)

                      Comment

That depends on the game apparently. Some shut it off, even when they're suspended.

Really? I want to clarify - I mean DS games not 3DS games.
I would have thought that 3DS games all have to support SpotPass because they all have to support the Home menu?

I think everything but wifi shuts off when in DS mode, you should get a notification when you first try a DS game telling you what does and doesn't work.

Sorry to be a downer then but does anyone think it seems to take a while for the 3DS to come on? I guess i expected it to come on instantly but, on mine at least, there's a quite a few seconds delay between the light coming on and the screen starting up. Shutting down seems to take even longer. Whilst i'm moaning, mine seems to have a number of dead pixels (or perhaps dust behind) the top screen. Having read the instruction manual it seems Nintendo have changed there policy on dead pixels and it isn't quite as friendly as it was with previous DS models.
