Despite my wanting one so badly I won't shell out over ?200 for one.

No way I can afford that at the moment.

Maybe I'll ask for one for my birthday in April.

      It's £40 more than a touch though.

If there's a whopping mark-up over Japan then I think we have right to be irritated.

Well, personally I wouldn't pay more than £80/€100 for a phone as I use a phone only for calling and sending text messages.

I wish I could buy a 3DS without all the useless extra software, web browsers, cameras etc. which I'm probably never going to use after trying them out once or twice. I buy a handheld to play games designed for it and that's all I want from one, but I guess I'm in the minority.

?249 is madness , Im dumb enough to pay it but if its true they are seriously hedging their bets with regard to their audience and what joe public is prepared to pay for what they will see as a sideways upgrade

If it works for apple, chances are it'll work for Nintendo!

Every 3d game I've ever played (ok, so maybe half a dozen to 10 I guess) has looked blockier and suffered a framerate hit compared to the same game in 2d.

                EDIT:
GT5, Killzone 3, Some variation on Crysis on PC, Avatar, erm can't think of any other actually lol

This. People were falling over themselves to pay ?400+ for a rectangle, just a larger version of what they already owned. People will pay anything for the latest tech.

I think I'm still interested. Its out 3 days after my birthday and I may be able to get 30% off via my sisters boyfriend who works in retail. If I can't get the 30% off then I think I'll give it a miss until xmas in the hope of a price reduction.

                        £224.99/199.99 psp go says HELLO!
People were more than happy to pay more for a re-vision.
Can't understand why people are upset, as tech gets more advanced it will cost more and more for the consumer, ach well.

At last, someone sees the point I was trying to make about 20 or so pages back!

No they weren't, nobody bought the Go!

I'm being pedantic though, I fear you are right - one look at Apple demonstrates people's buying habbits.

It will be interesting to see how the PSP2 compares both price and spec-wise. The 3DS is hardly cutting edge technology, and whilst I don't think that will hinder sales one bit, I'd say it does validate complaints about the price. If the PSP2 is in the same price bracket (which admittedly, I doubt), people will be more vocal.

I read that the 3DS will be the equivalent of ?190 in Japan. If we end up paying a walloping ?250 over here, doesn't that mean we're being stiffed?

Also the comparison to iDevices isn't entirely fair- you don't have to stump up ?30/?40 for every bit of software once you've purchased an iPad.

For some reason im just not that interested in the 3DS. It seems slightly underpowered and not as powerful as the Gamecube but thats just my impressions and if anyone knows better or has the technical specs then il retract my statement.

Now we all know power isn't the deciding factor and what is the selling point is the games but that area has also done nothing for me. Ocarina seems only slightly better graphically than playing it on the GC with some touch controls and mabee a few puzzles & Metal Gear Solid 3ds doesn't seem any better than the PS2 version. Also all the launch games whilst im sure will be of a good quality, dont interest me at all although RR3DS looks good.

All in all im more excited about the PSP2 which is to be officially announced at a press conference in Tokyo on January 27th. If it has poor battery life & a high price then i think it will be another 2nd place for Sony in the handheld market but im hoping otherwise. Oh and i really hope its compfy to hold for longer than 15 mins unlike the GO.
