Sounds like some of you never played SF on a SNES or something.

I'm with Flabio on this one. I already have SFIV & SSFIV sitting on the self on my living room with an arcade stick and a 32" TV, I have no reason to buy a poorer version on a tiny screen with poorer controls just for a 3D gimmick. Like Flabio said, I too am interested in original titles that I don't already own as a better version.

That said I do understand why others would want to play a mobile version on the go, it's just not for me as I play my DS at home.

The Neo Pocket was boss man for handheld fighters.

No, not just you. This from just a few posts up -

And yes, the Neo Geo Pocket was fabulous for fighting games. Firstly because it had a great control stick and secondly because the fighters on it were tailor-made for the system. They worked well within the limitations of the system and were pretty much all excellent.

I always wanted a Capcom handheld made just for fighting games. I'd totally go for that.

Edit: Preordered my 3DS today. It better be good (shakes fist).

This was my day one purchase but now I'm not so sure...

Namco Bandai's upcoming 3DS version of Ridge Racer has been built with younger and broader audiences in mind than usual…

Finding it hard to get excited about the launch line up. Need something to look at though.

Seeing that, for some time, the cars in Ridge Racer have pretty much taken themselves round corners, the idea that the handling needs to be even simpler is a little crazy.

                eh? lol. crazy stuff.

And wall riding and crashing doesn't slow you down much. weeeeee.

Don't they realise that the only people playing will be adults? Not 4 years olds.

The PSP dpad and even the DS dpad isn't a patch on the SNES dpad. I think the PSP before the Go had a decent one though. The DS one is strangely mushy.

Yeah the DS Lite pad is terrible. Wrestled with it like crazy trying to play Bleach. The PSP slim pad is better, but it's no SFC pad.

My first PSP(1000) with the dpad mod and Capcom dpad sticky on top was pure bliss. Even without the Capcom thing it was really nice but nice in the sense that it was a lot better than without the mod, which is obvious. I also did the button mod which helped a lot(especially with the dodgy square button. Anyone remember that?).

I then got a slim PSP(2000) and I didn't need to do any modding to it. In fact, I tried the button mod and it made the buttons worse. I didn't bother with the Capcom dpad as my PSP is white and some other reason I forget.

I've used a few slim & lite PSP's(3000?) and the dpad and buttons on those are great but I didn't bother trading up for one. I also didn't try any games on them, just the XMB, so for all I know they could've been the same as the 2000 ones.

I agree 100% that it's not ideal but I don't play SF seriously like that so it doesn't matter to me. When I play SF on portables, it's more for the general experience rather than trying to learn combos and raise my game. I just use that time to learn what the hits do and where I'll land after jumps and how to not cry when E. Honda spams up the place and things like that. And because I just generally love anything involving SF.

                        Yeah, that's the real reason.

I can't help but be slightly competitive when I play online on a handheld. Controls need to be sweet.

I agree with that. Also I get frustrated when I can't pull a move/combo off. My experience with d-pads have been painful. Perhaps There's a USB connector on the 3DS I can plug in my Hori stick?

I usually don't mind pads for SF. I thought the Saturn pad was probably the best and them SFIV Madcatz pads were great in my opinion.
