Street Fighter is a tricky one.
On the one hand it is NEVER going to be as good as a £50+ joystick. On the other hand it's an astonishingly accurate port that looks amazingly good. The static backgrounds are soon forgotten about and the depth effect helps anyway.

I've had no problem doing moves on either the stick or pad (although I'm been tapping the screen for the ultras) but again if you're a stick snob then there's nothing I can say to convince you to change your mind.

ultimately if you were impressed by the amazingly good Street Fighter GBA ports (which were perfectly fun even on 2 buttons), then this will blow your tiny little mind.

To be fair, Street Fighter Alpha/Zero 3 Upper on the GBA is a more apt comparison - an excellent conversion ultimately let down by poor controls - the bane of the majority of handheld fighter ports.

Street Fighter 2 X/Turbo Revival was a mess. A glitchy, bug-filled, all-too-cheap and easy mess.

strider - would you say shadow wars is accessible to someone new to the genre? ive only dabbled in advance wars, but i like the sound of this.

As a separate thing, has anyone had the misfortune to see the 3DS segment on QVC? an abomination of wild false claims! its ?269 including Sims 3, and P&P is ?6.95!!! apparently some of the key sales points are:
-things just leap out of the screen, in front of you its incredible
-theres a game built in called augmentation, where mario appears in 3D on a card and comes out of the screen and you can hug him. you can actually kiss a 3d mario!
-you can browse the internet and download ebooks which you can read on the built in ebook reader.
-the sims 3 is so new its not been made yet, so we cant show you the game or the proper box. Sims 3 is one of nintendo's most successful games because this is the third one - there were 2 before it.
-it comes in cosmic black or petrol colour

i wish i could remember more but after the initial hilarity i found myself ranting at the TV charlie brooker style. Even my wife kept piping up with, "thats not true" every 30 seconds or so!

          Well I liked them
Ultimately though, if you're a hardcore player you'd never consider a handheld of any Street Fighter anyway for the very reasons you've stated so it becomes a moot point. There's no denying that it's a hell of a lot of fun to play though and I love the little street pass models.

Strider have you had chance to try Rayman. Just interested in the how close the visuals are to the DC version and how the 3d looks. I have a sneaky suspicion this will be bundled instore at GS

I've had a quick look but my features editor will most likely review it. I didn't like the 3D effect, it's a bit too in your face, even when you turn it down.

ultimately it's a tricky one. On the one hand it's a truly charming platformer that's still very good. On the other hand it's a port of a port of a port. It's a tri-port.

How likely are you to receive a review copy of Sims 3? I really want to hear someone's take on it before I end up with mine.

We've been asking for it, but no response yet... Take that how you will.

Just double checked the magazine, apparently the offer is only good for the first 150 orders. Will be interesting to see how many they actually do have though.

That's a bit off. It's not mentioned anywhere on the above link.
