My fave 3 series are probably Mario, Mario kart and Resident Evil, and they're all getting new entries, so that's a very good start! It just needs Shenmue 3 and Half Life 3 to round out my top 5!

Well April fools from Amazon for me

Importing mine from the US to Australia and went with the fastest shipping. Going by their estimates it should have arrived yesterday. Got home yesterday after work, all excited, but no parcel. Oh well, wouldn't have had much time to play anyway. Doesn't matter, will get it tomorrow in time for my DAY OFF and WEEKEND right?

Amazon parcel shows up today, I open it up and....

All I get are 3 games. Apparently the console is in another parcel that despite being shipped at the exact same time (checked the tracking history) somehow won't be arriving till Monday.

Funnily enough, as the tears of anguish were clouding my eyes, I looked back at the box to see this where the Amazon logo once was

I think its a good idea to try and see things from other peoples point of view. I can understand how people feel, if they've had a positive experience with the 3D feature. You might be yet to suffer ill affects, you might be lucky and have no problems at all, hopefully you won't have. As i've already stated though, i had no problems in 4 days of use. It wasn't until i STOPPED playing that things got noticeably bad.

But put yourself in my shoes for a minute. Imagine switching the 3DS off, and having a big white rectangle obscuring your vision, even with your eyes tightly shut. Imagine having to ride it out and wait for it to fade away, 5 mins of anxiety and panic until it finally goes. Imagine how you'd feel realising that you're brains perception of certain things had changed, so that you were seeing 2D objects in 3D.......for over 24hrs. Be honest, you'd feel much like myself.

I'm really not prepared to find out if its just my brain and eyes getting used to the 3D, or whether this thing could be affecting my health. Its just not worth the risk. As i've previously said, i learnt that lesson with screaming guitars, pummeling drums and my resultant Tinnitus. I think its pretty........ pretty.........pretty....... obvious that Nintendo will be going to court at some point over this one. I actually think they know that too, which is why they've tried to cover their arse at every opportunity. As Duncan Banatyne often says, "i'm out". 2D is dead, long live 2D!

1992 and getting my SNES. 9 hours of Mario World later and all I could see was blue when I closed my eyes.

2003 and Pokemon Puzzle League on the n64. Both me and my mother suffered the same halluciniations of playing the game when we closed our eyes.

2011 and the 3DS. Nothing I haven't done to myself before.

All these side effects sound less like the effects of 3D and more like withdrawal from the AWESOMENESS

You have to admint though, with the current lacklustre launch titles (imo), expensive hardware and the reports of eye strain it might have been a good idea to keep checking out for longer term reviews than just going with the possible fanboy reviews we see so often from people who buy things on day one.

I have the odd problem playing ridge racer but that's usually after 45 mins play if I have a quick breather I'm okeverybodies eyesight differs so obviously some people are going to suffer more than other due to various factors.I remember me and my mate when we bought a Japanese super famicom we both bought super castlevania 4 on import.the level where the background screen rotated like a tunnel made my mate really ill to the point he couldn't play that level.I've never had any problems playing video games other than a dead bum after a marathon session LOL

Is the reported (in that article) 3 hours battery life from the stock battery accurate then? If so, an extra 2 hours 45 minutes is pretty mighty indeed.

I'm generally not a fan of anything that adds extra bulk to a handheld, but that looks rather smart.

Yeah it's usually just under 3 hours from a full charge before it starts running out of juice, looking at the pictures side by side it doesn't look too bad

That battery looks pretty handy actually. I find the base of the 3DS a little too slender for my hands so the extra bulk might actually make it more comfy for me. No sign of this for sale in the uk though?

I dont think the launch has been lackluster at all, Pilot Wings , Ghost Recon, Ridge Racer, Street Fighter IV, these are all great games, its actualy one of the better launches of any console I can remember (as they usualy have about 2 good games at most really).

Anyone who says the launch is lackluster hasnt actualy played the games.

Totally agree. The launch titles I picked up have been all great. The only thing I crave for is a shooting game. Splinter Cell is the closest to one but it's very stealthy. I have high hopes for Resi Mercs though.
The only other thing I would say is more of the launch titles should have had online multi player. Specifically Samurai Warriors and PES
