You draw on the touch screen and it appears above the AR card. You can choose a flat surface, a cylinder or a sphere and there are stampers you can use - like that pikmin sphere I made and sent out earlier.

I bought an extended battery for my 3ds, this one:
And it's increased the play time to over 10hrs on a single charge. It does make the 3DS slightly heavier and larger but strangely I find the new size and weight easier to use.
