    Pro Evolution Soccer 2011

Sounds to me like WE Productions have been working on a completely different engine in the background?

Famitsu recently had words with Seabass and he stated that current PES is stuck in the 16-bit era as are many of the players.

The updates will come in both graphics and gameplay areas. Winning Eleven games until now, he said, have been just extensions of the Famicom era. Players were fine with this through the PlayStation 2 , but the development staff now need to change their concepts and ideas to something more appropriate for the new generation machines like Xbox 360 and PS3.

He wouldn?t give share specifics about what kind of changes to expect, but he did say that the area of the game that most clearly shows the changes is the relationship between AI and player motions.

The changes will have an effect on how the game controls, said Takatsuka. Until now, they?ve had a ?Famicom-like? belief that good controls means fast movement. But it isn?t this simple. Particularly on the new hardware, this type of thinking will lead to players being too fast. Some players in Europe have actually complained that the game?s tempo is too fast. On the other hand, some players do seem to like faster speeds. The staff will be taking balance into account during the tuning process.

Despite all the changes, Takatsuka said to expect the new Winning Eleven between November and December. The game is currently 30% complete.

Haha, I guess the PES-Cycle now starts again.

I presume we're in the "Optimism" stage right now?

"Some players in Europe have complained the game is too fast"

Then don't bloody tune the AI to make it too fast on PES! The problem in Europe is that the game is tuned to ignore midfield.

The mechanics changed drastically over the years for the WE series. WE was a big change from the ISS/perfect striker games. WE3 was a huge step and WE6 was a very big one too.

Reckon we'll see something a lot more like FIFA in terms of gameplay.

I think the famous Sonic 'never again' image would work here...

Although admittedly, I do enjoy PES 2010 right now after quitting FIFA.

Bah, keep chatting breeze Seabass, I and many others have completely lost faith in you and your team. The days of Pes being a license to print money are going the ways of the dodo.

Complete nonsense. W.E has never played like a famicom game. In fact ISS as we know continued on the N64 and PS2.
W.E often felt very concise and realistic it was only the odd version that was sped up like W.E 8.

I thought Seabass may be referring to the rather dated controls i.e not fully 360 degrees and at the same time, the animations follow suit, therefore giving you a bit of a retro style gameplay?

He's admitting that the engine for the past PES/WE on current gen tech has really just been built on an old engine. I think the current engine leaves hardly any room for expansion and so a new engine is now needed.

I have no idea what any of you are talking about. Lol. I wish I could play WE (the attract mode rocks), but I feel that it's too hard/been too long for me to get into it now.

*Thinks that the WE 2010 looks nice on and adds culture to my shelf though*

Series has been on a downer since it hit PS2. Someone needs to bring out a decent soccer game, there aren't any.

Yeah my whole post got interrupted mid thought and I couldn't quite remember what I was going to put!

                          That is just pure nonsense.
W.E hit its stride on PS2. It just added more and more each year until W.E 10 when it became the side project after the PS3 games. Now Fifa has copied its template and made an excellent title in Fifa 2010.

                              *canned laughter.

If you mean we'll see a game that looks like 2010, then I'll bet you one thousand dollars that the next PES will look totally different. Whether it'll be any good, I ain't got a magoo. I'd like to think with WEP's long time pedigree, they can put all that good history into something fresh. I'm not putting my eggs into one basket until I play it though.
