I go from the PS3, via HDMI, to an HDMI 2x4 matrix unit. That allows me to send the signal to the TV or the amp, and from the amp via HDMI to the projector. Now I don't know if the issue I have it because I'm going through the matrix, but if I set the sound settings on the PS3 to Automatic, I get problems. The most common is, having played on the TV with stereo sound, next time I switch on the PS3 but going to the amp, it still outputs stereo sound, rather than 5.1. Have to manually set it to 5.1 LCPM or whatever it is.

Better is probably not the word to use but if your TV supports Full RGB levels and the source material also does then you do get a more accurate image.

It may be worth mentioning that the XMB does support Full RGB levels and, I believe, all PS3 games do so if you view a test card with blacker than black graduations you will be able to confirm whether your TV supports those levels correctly or not.

At it's most basic level your PS3, or any other AV equipment, needs to be outputting what your amp or screen is expecting to be receiving from it.

If you're outputting Full RGB and your TV is waiting for a Limited RGB signal then your blacks and whites will suffer on the screen. If that is reversed and your screen is expecting Full RGB but your PS3 is sending the images using the Limited RGB levels then the images will look washed out on the screen.

From memory the PS3 may have an automatic setting for some of these settings but these things are best avoided from what I've read elsewhere.

welcome to the wonderful world of digital AV and HDMI protocols i have the same issue when using the HDMI pass through feature on my AVR.

but are you sure this stops just by setting your audio system manually in the settings menu? i guess the PS3 automatically detects the number of available channels every time you switch it on.

I've randomly just fired up KZ2 to get me in the mood for KZ3 and the controls, which always felt a little too heavy to me, have clicked in a way that they never have before tonight! Maybe it's because I haven't really played many FPS recently having got utterly bored with Call of Duty but KZ2 feels spot on.

            Really, really hyped for KZ3!!

Played about an hour of KZ3 multiplayer tonight - and honestly, it's genius. I love it. It's so visceral, heavy, war-like. That's my best description..

I'm buying this game under the understanding that it's going to be my staple FPS for a long time to come. :-) Win :-)

That's just it though - it doesn't detect the right number of channels and switching between displays requires a manual change every single bloody time. I'm not switching with the PS3 on either, so I guess it's the HDMI handshake stuff.

Sony amp as well, which just makes the Automatic mess up even more frustrating....

Navigation controllers still can't be had for love nor money here in Japan (round my way at least). The shops all have adverts up showing them, but none in stock.

Really keen to get one after how taken I am with using the Move for this, the DS3 is pretty unusable unless I rest it on my leg the whole time.

Interestingly every review that scored this 70 or less failed to mention what it was like to play with Move controls whereas everyone who scored it an 80 or higher did (yes I just spent 10 minutes clicking on every review link on metacritic).

I finally nailed the Move controls and its the Future of console FPS gaming. No assists, own skill... its like a mouse, sans WASD navigating and can be playing from a kick back position.

Turning around? Far better than DS3. Here's the deal; flick the Deadzones to zero. Then adjust sens and turning speed to your liking. I use 20, 60.

It's a joyous moment isn't it, when you get it working just right. I also switched everything off. I may actually try it with the reticle off tonight!

True, but the the general opinion of the reviews that gave it high scores seems to be that they liked it more with the DS3, so i dont think that has a bearing on the score.

Its odd, but alot of people seem to be bored of shooting things, I think thats the main problem with why its getting low scores, they seem to expect more.

I dont get it myself, I love shooting things, but maybe thats just me.

Recticle off is too optimistic i think. Too hard with certain weapons.

But there is still room for improvement, killzone being the first. The pointer has to be moved too far upwards for the screen to tag along. But that could be patched, perhaps.

I caved and downloaded the demo today.

Holy crap is it amazing!! Controls a brilliant though don't feel as weighty as KZ2 but I don't feel I have to correct my aim as much now.

It looks incredible. Loving Rico's hairdo!

Can't wait until next week for this!!

Had a go at the single player demo. It's visually ****ing amazing. Just like Uncharted shows what the PS3 can do when its not multi-platform releases. Also thought the AI behaviours where pretty special too.

Never took to the SP mode in KZ2, but if number 3 looks this good, I will be playing through it just for the experience.

One of the best visual and animated games I have ever seen.
