On 007 mode you needed to be stealth-like 100% of the time. Most levels are impossible on that setting though.

My spider sense says this will be a bag of ****e. I'd love to be wrong, but a classic remake that isn't just a cosmetic buff, why bother if you're not cashing in on the name?

Im expecting this to be a great game in its own right but still not be able to beat the original. Eurocom are a decent team, Dead Space Extraction was one of the best light gun games I have played in years and their N64 bond game was a respectable effort. So I have no doubts that they will be able to deliver a great Wii FPS. I also think Activision went down the right route by having Daniel Craig as bond and having this as a modern remake of the original movie with the gritty and realistic approach and stars of the current bond movies. Obviously I would love to see the original Goldeneye on the Virtual Console/XBLA but we all know that will never ever happen so this is the next best thing.

I have to disagree with that, I thought it was gash.

If you've played any modern FPS from the last decade or so then chances are you'll know the score.

I, like many see this as just a pointless cash-in on the name rather than reinventing the wheel so to speak as the original seemed to do for the time. Eurocom's efforts have never been what you'd call 'exemplary', far from it infact! I can't think of any game they've been responsible for since the N64 and those were tripe.

Lest we all forget the last Bond game to tack on the Goldeneye name? Rogue Agent anyone? Didn't think so.

After reading the interview about this in EDGE I'm pretty much lightly looking forward to playing it. It's blatantly COD in Goldeneye dressing but they're very clear on their reasons for not attempting to mirror the N64 titles design which rings pretty much true. Like they said in the interview, the Perfect Dark touch up showed that whilst there's a nostalgic element to playing the older titles they simply aren't relevant in todays market. They've gone to a reasonable amount of effort by the sounds too with the original writer of Goldeneye taking on the duties of updating the story himself. There's no way this will be a modern FPS classic and a lot of passionate N64 Goldeneye fans will hate this by default but for me, if it's a fun title like Quantum was (and it's looking like it will be) then it's job well done.

I would kind of agree that Perfect Dark has no place in today's current market. From the point of view that the levels where confusing. I don't think it was bad level design but more there was no real objective information and what information you had was useless at describing the location or amount of technology you had to acquire for the mission (for example)

In general the basic gameplay was pretty good, obviously the voice acting was shoddy as it was people in house and the storyline was not great but then most games still have shocking storylines even those trying to sell themselves on it.

This reboot seems fine, I might have a go at it but I already know its not going to be long term because its on the expensive Nintendo paperweight.

God forbid a gamer actually has to find something for them selves or explore a game. There was nothing wrong with the level design in PD at all, i cant say i ever got lost and cant imagine why people would? the level design was fantastic, as like goldeneye, it opened up even more on the harder levels, usually making the level seem completely different from its lower settings.

Still to this day no other developer has managed to hide an ever expanding amount of content of levels and goodies in a game, i doubt there ever will be.

Oh it was incredible wasn't it? It also made it rewarding to replay the games on the higher difficulties. Whereas normally I cba to replay a game just with everything taking longer to kill, but killing me faster.

As much as I loved Perfect Dark and Goldeneye. And enjoyed playing it again in the XBLA version that is hogwash.

The maps are pretty poorly laid out especially the crash site one, you just end up walking around in circles that to poor signposting and confusing maze like tunnels.

Preview of the multiplayer modes. Looks decent fun but nothing to rival COD or the N64 game for it's time, maps look a little plain.

Perfect Dark is still the best thing ever. Not just game, but thing.

That's because todays market is comprised of kids with no appreciation for anything with class and adults who are largely ****e at games who cower from anything remotely challenging, and believe all games should be like movies which you can control somewhat.
