That's a bit surprising. Mario Kart sequels never come out on the same hardware as their prequels, so I'm surprised this isn't just called Mario Kart 3DS.

It might be that they're trying to get away from the "3DS" monicker, in a weird way. There was a huge amount of negative press around the 3D effect and so seeing 3DS in the title of games implies that it might only work in 3D (if you're a middle-aged woman buying for your kids and you know nothing about games) and so has negative connotations.

I like the idea of controlling it with the machine but still prefer being able to see the back of my kart to a 1st person view. Hope it plays well online without people dropping out because they're losing. Glad I didnt sell my 3DS now which I only contemplated due to needing some cash, lots of games suddenly coming out at the same time.

Hori are releasing an attachable steering wheel for the 3DS in connection with the game. Not really very practical.

That attachment seems the same to me as picking up the TV from both sides and tilting it left and right to deliver a driving experience! Although, in the real world, a horizon would always be level... :S

Pointless attachment imo.
