I'm worried that it will be overshadowed by Ghost Camera for me, which I should be receiving about a week prior, but the demo for Resident Evil was very promising. The monsters seemed rather dull, but the actual setting and added elements to the gameplay seemed really inspired. Definately keeping the preorder.

If anyone , Even TA , say its anything like Res5 im well beyond caring ECT.
Real time weapon changing could work with a touch screen, though. Those hot keys for the console version of 5 were piss poor and a total knee-jerk to the inventory system in Dead Space. 4's attache case and pausing to change equipment, specifically switching between grenades and guns, was much better.

The demo is getting an EU release tomorrow. Can't imagne why it took so long - the Japanese demo already featured optional English text and voices (conversely, this is also the first Resident Evil game I'm aware of with Japanese voice acting along with the English).

Especially great, and pretty much essential, for Mercenaries mode survival as well.
Even touch-screen implementation for real-time weapon selection wouldn't be as good, as there is only so much capacity for animation the avatar can undergo within a set time, not being able to break that sequence brings a lot of limitation to the gameplay.
Too much realism can subtract a lot of fun.

I've not played the Mercenaries demo but I've heard that this one is different. It should be though, in the control settings, it now supports the Circle Pad.
So far, not bad at all. The controls are fine. It just plays like RE4. The default setting is for a first person viewpoint when shooting but I decided that 3rd person was more suitable. The monsters move really fast and appear really hard to aim at and hit properly. Even though it's more of an action game, I also found myself running out of ammo really quickly.

Only played a little bit but my first impressions are good. Control is very instinctive and, true to what some already said, I can't see why I'd need the circle pad add-on. Visually, enemies aside (which I think look pretty awful), it looks really polished with old school RE atmosphere. But, and this is a big BUT, is this 3D? It looks some odd fudged 3D or something in that something is happening and text is coming off the screen but the actual games visuals don't feel 3D at all. Pretty sure Jill is flat and the backgrounds don't feel all that 3D either with slider at full. Is this basically 2D with a little depth cheating?

Ah, you're right and it makes a big difference. Although I still suspect the 3D is more a trick than being 3D, at least that's how it appears to me. It looks like they've offset the background for each eye, rather than rendering it from different perspectives, and I think Jill might be flat on top of that. Hard to tell. I notice they're also tinting the screen for lighting effects - you see it change as you leave or enter a room. It's interesting. They're getting results and it looks pretty good but it does feel like something's just not quite right.
Game-wise though, it feels quite old school RE and, to me, that's no bad thing at all. I think I'm going to enjoy the full game.
