Ah ok cool, no worries, just wondered incase my Xbox was broke and didn't receive the update!

Seems if you have a USA Xbox Live Silver account (Xbox Live Free, as it's now called in beta) you can download ESPN and watch it ala Sky Player only the free espn.com stuff. When you launch it, it asks you to sign into Gold account, you can then sign in to UK account and watch some programmes and highlight shows.
I watched some MMA and the stream was nice quality and I managed HD picture

Doh, been trying to chat with my mate, didnt realize you cant if your on the beta and they aint.

Party or Individual Chat - Because you are participating in an exclusive pre-release program, you will not be able to voice chat with non-participants during the program period. This will not be an issue when the update launches to all Xbox LIVE users later this Fall. Game chat is expected to function as usual and should not be impacted by this change.


Avatar Clothes / Props - Any clothes, or props that have been purchased via marketplace or downloaded from the service will not appear on your avatar and will represent themselves as a "!" in the avatar closet. This content will continue to remain with this account and will be updated with the release of Kinect. Any awards awarded to your account will still be awarded and will be available once updated from the service.

Silver accounts are now called "Xbox Live Free" in the beta.

How did I manage that, swore I wrote "Xbox Live Silver account (Xbox Live Free, as it's now called in beta)" stupid self!
Suppose they want to emphasise the FREE account.

I noticed the avatar store works now and a bigger selection of stuff works again. I'm already 100% used to my new avatar

Another update today, there is an MSN news section now where you can watch various bits of video, a little more non gaming news type stuff is always welcome, I quite like the news globes on Wii/PS3.

Improved Voice Quality is the only one which interests me. Even then, that's never been an issue for me. I've always felt Live had excellent voice quality.

How about an option to turn off all the crap and improve response time?

Here?s the list of changes:

• Improved voice quality ? the audio codec is being updated to improve Xbox LIVE Party chat audio quality. So grab your friends and jump into a multiplayer game, catch a big sports event, watch a movie or do all three.
• Improved experience for changing your Gamertag ? choosing a new Gamertag? If the Gamertag you?re looking for is already taken, your Avatar will spin a wheel and we will provide five other Gamertag suggestions at a time for you to choose from.
• Streamlined in-dashboard virtual keyboard ? we?ve taken the existing QWERTY keyboard in-dash and made it easier to use for scenarios that involve repeated text entry, for example when signing up for Live within the dashboard.
• Improved Xbox Live Marketplace UI and browse experience ? the Games Marketplace has been re-organized to provide streamlined access to the games and content you want, reducing the number of steps it takes to get to a download.
• Avatar changes ? we?ve made your Avatars slightly more proportional so you can better play Kinect games.
• Easier to get on a wireless network ? trying to connect to a wireless network? With the next update, you?ll see a list of all the wireless networks within range when you go into network settings. From there, you?ll be able to select a new network or further configure the network you?re connected to.
• Ability to sign-out other controllers in the sign-in UI ? we?re adding the ability to sign-out profiles on other controllers in the sign-in UI within the Guide. This is especially useful when playing games like Rock Band.
• New browse experience for 100 per cent completed games ? you spent a lot of time and effort earning those Achievements, so instead of only being able to view your first dozen completed games, we?re giving you a new and better way to browse all of them.

yeah, booted me out of an online game to do it at 1am.
couldn't see any difference except i had to re download sky player as the old version stopped working..

I thought the sky player was built in now? I booted mine up without a download the first time and it has new style avatar support.

Just Checked, Skyplayer and Twitter are both built into the dash now but Facebook and Zune are still external "games"

Glad to hear they're improving the controller sign in/out system, it can get really confusing sometimes when guitars, drums, sticks, etc are involved. I often have to simply turn the machine off to make sense of it all.
