To those of you who have the dash installed:
When you boot an installed game from the hard disk, and it performs the disc check, can you eject the disc afterwards? It would be nice for people with multiple consoles to be able to play against their local friends and family in full screen glory without having to buy multiple copies of the game.

I think as an antipiracy measure the 360 is hardwired to return to dash when ejecting the disc. I imagine it is still the same.

If that is an option - I'd be very happy, and amazed that MS don't force people to buy multiple copies for one home.

Yeah, I don't expect it to work, but figured I'd ask.
I suppose you could effectively end up with everyone in your street playing the same copy.

It cuts to the dash soon as you eject.

I have a launch jap machine and it worked fine for me. One of the fastest updates. Took about 10 seconds from a USB stick.

I guess the legit one installs more because after the usual update message and relatively quick install it then proceeds to calculate how long the installation will take, which was about 5-10 minutes on my Virgin Media 2 MB broadband for the NXE Preview.

yeah the legit one installs the fancy intro and the avatar assets. The net version just installs the core OS.

NO, i got in this one too and i really cant wait and ive even had the leaked version installed for a week or more. The leaked one realy is gimped without the online parts but i seen enough of that with installs and no dvd drive noise thats got me well excited for the full thing today.

nice one, I made it in as well. Be interesting to see how it works since I have the leaked NXE installed. Have a feeling it will just let me back on live.

I reckon you would have to be fairly unlucky not to get in this time as they are letting 10000 on early. Just shows how lucky you were if you made it into the 1st wave.

I made it in, but i registered pre RROD, and got back my elite the other day with changed mobo. Any one know how it distrbiutes the upgrade? I assume it s by console id? and I assume that mine will have changed as a result of having the mobo changed?

Maybe not - have you check what it says in the dash?

I got in too on a silver account that I use. Shouldn't matter as the console ID is what seems to be the most important and it should allow me access on any profile on that system... right?

Yeah you should be fine with any gamertag. I'm fairly certain its the Console ID thats important as that is what it checks before letting you onto live with the new dash.
