The rest of point applies though, the new guide IS the old dash but with most of the unnecessary tat removed and it works much faster. I still can't see how anyone could be unhappy with NXE.

The way it boots you up to the advertising rather than the useful My Xbox section is pissing me off already.
I notice there's an option for 'quick start', anyone know what that does? Or is it just the new name for auto sign-in? If it boots the machine to something more functional I'll probably activate it.

I've not liked the default advertising section opening from day one. It should go to your page, showing you number of friends online, emails, game in the drive - basically what it used to do!
I like the mini guide, not keen on the new dash. As I said last week, it's cumbersome and slow to use - it may load faster, but that is negated by the unintuitive (to me) menu system.
I'll be giving the group chat a try tonight. The new features are a great addition, but the look is naff. Right now, I use the mini-guide for everything.
Doesn't help that somehow, all the avatars look camp.

Agreed chain it should default to My Xbox, I still really like it overall but as many others I also really don't like the way older themes are implemented why did they not make it so it changes background as you scroll up and down through the main sections (aside from the fact each pic will still be chopped in half), should also have the option of setting message boxes semi transparent. New themes are alright but all of the ones released so far make it seem that the new dash is not as skinable as it could be, I wonder if developers are even allowed to design themes that change the icons?.

LOL. Suddenly the plethora of Live homophobes turn out to be closet cases!!
The more I think about the avatars (which amounts to about 20 seconds, I've better things to do), the more I think MS have missed the mark big time. Other than the "Wow look at me!" short term gimmick, MS have forgotten about their core userbase. Us muppets who've stuck with the machine and re-bought it over and over. Those who like actual 360 exclusive games. They should have a wider range of "parts", including more "realistic" parts based on Gears, Halo, Fable, BioShock, etc. Then you'd get a wide range of novelty avatars pieced together from people's favourite games, a true reflection of your gaming interests.
Instead we get generic Miis in camp poses, with no real relation to the XBox demographic.
