Lets see how this does going up against Mass Effect 3 Directors Cut GOTY Edition!
Wasn't this initially due for an October release? Meaning it was going up against neither Halo or CoD.
What you would have done is bought Bioshock: Infinite October, played the **** right out of it and simply trade it in November in time for Halo/CoD/Ass Creed 3 or whatever.
    SIMPLE!

Also just one more thing, I'm fed up now with publishers seeing big games and literally having no faith people will buy it alongside blockbuster games OR delaying til end of financial year in-case they have a bad one, subsequently they delay the game and giving some bull reason that they are doing it "TO MAKE IT BETTERER".
Bioshock is a vastly different style of game than your CoDs or Halos and has been hotly anticipated for a while now.

Don't worry they delayed it to make those amazing environments EVEN MORE AMAZING!

we all know it's to improve multiplayer.

        Look.

“When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing,” he said. “Since then, we’ve come to realise that some specific tweaks and improvements will make Infinite into something even more extraordinary.

"Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need, we’ve decided to move the game’s release to February 26th, 2013. We wanted to let our loyal and very patient fans know this as soon as possible. I won’t kid you: BioShock Infinite is a very big game, and we’re doing things that no one has ever done in a first-person shooter.

“We had a similar experience with the original BioShock, which was delayed several months as our original ship date drew near. Why? Because the Big Daddies weren’t the Big Daddies you’ve since come to know and love. Because Andrew Ryan’s golf club didn’t have exactly the right swing. Because Rapture needed one more coat of grimy Art Deco.

“The same principle now applies to BioShock Infinite.

“What does this mean for you? It means a bit more waiting, but more importantly, it means an even better BioShock Infinite. The great can be made greater, and we owe it to both ourselves and to you, our fans, to take this opportunity. Irrational Games is one of those rare developers lucky enough to ask the people who sign the cheques: “Hey, can we have a few more of those cheques?”

“We are also going to hold off on showing BioShock Infinite at the big events of the summer, like E3 and Gamescom. That way, the next time you see our game, it will be essentially the product we intend to put in the box. Preparing for these events takes time away from development, time we’re going to use instead to get the best version of Infinite into your hands in February.”
So the next time you see the game will be when you are playing it.

Bet you anything even with the delay there will still be an update when you connect it to live on day one. Multiplayer was flaky as hell in the second one.

A certain Grand Theft Auto V might have something to do with this. Just saying...

Can't GTAV be delayed instead then?

Fantastic! now even less to look forward to at E3

I hope Sony or Nintendo have some nice secret stuff to show off, or this could be one of the worst ever. We all know MS will just be doing the same old charts and graphs stuff, with Kinect thrown in.

I'm looking forward to it too, but it's hardly a big deal. The more games get pushed back, the less incentive there is to rush into the next-next-gen. Let's have many more delays, better games and a longer generation, says I! Huzzah!!! (On that note [and gloriously off topic], is Ni no kuni still on for 2013? Heard the DS one was canned for Europe. Not sure about PS3...).

Still, least it gets it out of the way of Borderlands 2 for me, so I will have time to get through that first...

Didn't they do the same with Bioshock 2? anyway, I welcome the date being pushed back.

Gives me a chance to get through my back catalogue.

Bioshock Infinite team seeking 'network engineer'

Could the team be working on some kind of multiplayer mode for Infinite? A job listing on LinkedIn
certainly suggests so. "Right now we're looking for a talented and experienced individual to help us with the networking aspects of BioShock Infinite," a job posting for a Network Engineer says.

The hire will have to "work with the team who created BioShock network code" and will be "responsible for delivering a robust, scalable, and responsive client-side networking support on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms."
So far, Irrational Games has shown nothing about a possible multiplayer offering for Infinite. However, the franchise has dipped into an online mode before, with Bioshock 2. While competitive multiplayer would stray far from offering something "no one has ever done" before, it would be intriguing if the relationship between Elizabeth and Booker could somehow be replicated in a cooperative mode

Can't say I''m interested in them having another crack at multiplayer. Co-op might be interesting though.
