Oh Jesus, this just gets worse and worse.

    BEERS + EDF + LOCAL CO-OP = BLISS.

Here we go, the first example of **** Western developer missing the point and not understand what made the game great in the first place.

      http://www.co-optimus.com/game/1789/Playstation%203/earth-defense-force-insect-armageddon.html If it's correct...

I'm not usually in the business of throwing childish fits over how **** something is, and screaming 'no, no, it's not fair', but as far as EDF is concerned, it's unavoidable.

F**k up number one, in a potential ocean of them.

On the limited information so far, speculating from it we have...

      Drab environments
      Small, dull insects
Overly detailed textures, leading to rubbish amount of enemies onscreen at once
      Middling character designs
      A lack of charm
One city only, leading to less variety, and some feeble attempt at a story
      NO LOCAL CO-OP

      And on the plus side...

      Online! Woo-hoo

This is a pissing tragedy. You got it ALL wrong, VC. It looks like you're ripping the heart out of the series.

I'd say I'm probably better qualified than anyone on this forum when it comes to D3's games.

Besides, D3 only publish the games, hence the name D3 PUBLISHER. Pretty much all their Japanese releases are developed by companies like Sandlot, Hunex, Taito, Atelier Double & Success and if people actually bothered to play any of them, they'd find that a lot are actually quite good.

However, this game is 90% likely going to be a 'by numbers generic western third person shooter', which is a shame as the first two games in the series were fantastic.
Everything I've seen from D3 indicate that they're the Japanese version of THQ. Occasionally they publish a popular, well received game but for every one of those, they produce 10 mediocre licences or shovelware titles. I'd be willing to bet the majority of the shovelware is actively commisioned by them, not them looking for games needing a publisher.

Still, gotta love a company willing to publish a game centered entirely around a giant girl in a bikini destroying a city.

Well, when you've been a lifelong fan of the series like me, it's natural to get worried when the reigns get passed to another developer.

            *cough*

It's too early to tell, but that teaser video seems to indicate that the spiders won't be tiny. Feels like a War of the Worlds type vibe too.

Dead Rising and Lost Planet 2 are both pretty games that handle a lot of stuff on screen at the same time, so there's no reason why they can't still have the horizon chock-full of insects.

I'm guessing we're all worried it'll be like the new Milky Way bar - it seems similar, but it's not quite right...

            Here's that teaser:

It's like people keep rubbing our noses in the same pile of dog ****.

The difference, QualifyChump, is that Dead Rising and Lost Planet are developed by competent studios, with some financial might behind them. Vicious Cycle are a tuppence-ha'penny band of scratbags with a history of making toss-rat games. Their games have been on the Fail Train for years.

If they could handle the better visuals/dozens on screen payoff, then why have they not shown it? It's a series trademark. EDF = dozens of ants jizzing on you. If I were VC and I had the tech, I'd want to show it off so fools like me were drooling. Look guys - all your beloved insect action, but tarted up!

I wouldn't show a couple of piffling tiny, yes tiny!, spiders scuttling around aimlessly, looking bored and mildly depressed.

This is top stuff people, let it sink in first and then understand it in full later, perhaps after a nights sleep or a good glass of bourbon.

I've mushed bigger spiders with an old slipper.

You and Prinny should be a comedy double act
