I hope this post does not get taken the wrong way, I am not flaming or being a troll, or those other internet buzzwords.
I bought a GC at launch and absolutely love it, while everyone else had a PS2, I bypassed the PS2 and waited for the GC. To be honest I didn't think it was that good of a console and seemed to have quantity over quality stamped all over it.
However I purchased a PS2 a few weeks backs now, and I have to say it is a most impressive console. The graphics are far better than i believed, and if you pick the right titles their graphics easily rival those of the GC.
Considering it was released so long ago, the graphics can still compete, it has a DVD player (which is perfectly fine for a bedroom), a huge catalogue of games, must have titles, and is the only console that seems to retain a reasonable amount of money (If you decide to sell), even though it is the oldest and technically "most inferior".
I have never owned more than one console at a time (Being a Nintendo fan at heart), but i have to say that if you love your games you simply have to have a PS2 (Oh and a GBA, everyone seems to forget this little beauty when talking about consoles).
I personally think it will go down with the SNES as one of the best ever consoles.
