Yeah, they've brought the camera back to show off the cockpit and every car has been modeled from scratch, so it should look much nicer. My brother Malc will be pleased to hear that the steering wheel moves realistically as well!

A few more scraps, time of day seems to be in with their new lighting model, Turn 10 are working with Pirelli to use data from their tyres to better reflect the control and they're holding back some other reveals till nearer release date.

Yeah that already makes it far more immersive, I can't use any non cockpit cam in new games as it ruins it.

Will all cars be remodelled? Even stuff from the second disc of F3?

It looks stunning , would be nice if we could get weather and night racing though . Hope they sort the Online part out too, and somehow make it fun to race which is a general problem of almost all Next gen racers where none seem to be as nice or fun as playing the likes of PGR2 online.

Details are thin on the ground. All the cars shown off have been remodeled, but Turn 10 have said that certain cars will be avaliable for the museum mode, which have led some to say that only specific cars have been turned up to 11 whislt the others are imports from Forza 3.

Fingers crossed, the entire line up have been remodeled from scratch...

I never understand the appeal of night racing or gloominess in games in general.

Always seems a total pain racing in the dark to me, especially when you smash your headlights out and can't see.

Well when you're putting a Le Man mode I think it important and add's to the variety and helps kill that Gun Ho attitude of just going hell for leather and smashing into people . I used to love the Nigh Racing in Le Man's 24 on the DC, or in some of the old Rally games of the past

True, but it transforms the race, and makes a once safe braking point or blind crest, into a daunting prospect.

Le Mans is on this weekend, and seeing the Aston's, Peugeot’s & Audi's charge into the sunset as darkness looms over the circuit is an overwhelming experience.

Although, if you’ve knackered your headlights and just want to complete the 3 laps then I take your point!

I was getting a bit sick of racing games and wasn't to bothered about Forza 4 , but after watching the 24 minute video I'm quite excited about it. Not to bothered about the kinect features tho.

After watching that video, I'm very impressed and looking forward to the release. Looks like they've really pushed the 360. I hope the online side of things is solid.

Same... I'm really glad they've put 16 players in and are moving to provide more to the casual player without taking away from the hardcore. So really I can see this appealing to me and my passion for time trial rival addiction but at the same time I can play the other game-types with my mates who really hate competitive racing.

That and the cockpit cam now looks pretty much perfect to me. This is a must buy based on that video. Really want to see what else they have up their sleeve...

I completely skipped Forza 3 and up until recently had little interest in this.

Now it's one of the games that I'm looking forward to playing most, it looks fantastic.

This is sort of true. I can throw my Impreza aroun a dirt track very well however I find that playing Dirt 3 it's just not the same. It is a very good simulation and I am pretty good at the game but the feeling and the view from a real car just can't be recreated in a game. Those game cockpit views look nice but are complete bollocks for driving in. I find the bumper cam to be the most convincing to real life driving.

I don't agree. The cockpit view in Shift feels fantastic for me and is pretty close to what it feels like when driving on a track. Forza 3 got it all wrong but with the new pulled back camera, Forza 4 could fare better.

It does look really really nice. It will still be a fairly crappy race game though, they really need to work on that aspect of it.

                              Eg. A race involving...
                              A Mini
                              A Ford Fiesta
                              A BMW
                              A Audi
                              A Ferrari Enzo
                              A Bugatti
                              ...is hardly well balanced.

That's why I respect Shift 2 more than any other racer this gen, its geared around "racing" and not car porn. You choose a car and the game chooses your competition very closely. Forza and GT's pre-defined races have been ridiculous.

Unless he has said he will address this sort of thing in the 24 minute video, other than gorgeous visuals, I would imaging racing gets the short end of the wedge again.

Watch the video. He mentions the races offered will be geared to what cars you own in you garage so everyone will get a slightly different experience based on the cars they buy.

Only game I've liked cockpit cam in was PGR3/4. I've never played the shift series so can't comment on that. Generally if I'm playing with a controller I'd go bonnet cam but in PGR my mates all had racing wheels so we'd lock in cockpit view for a whole nights session and it's surprising how quickly you settled in to it. Used to love the aerial atoms centred cockpit view, low slung with wing mirrors. Awesome.

Hope forza4 can come close to that sensation.
