A Sonic Jam 2 would be nice but I'd say the trailer suggests a new homage title. Depends on the details, if it's by the Colours team I'll definitely give it a ganders

The whole old sonic vs new sonic thing is interesting and does suggest that they're taking into account that people liked old Sonic physics.

Bah. I bet you're going to say next that the god awful fan project was better. So many people are wrong about Sonic 4 that it just isn't funny.

Having classic Sonic in there will only serve as a reminder that the old Sonic games were great and the ****e ones, well, are ****e. It would be like sticking Alec Guinness in the Phantom Menace. Al Pacino in Godfather 3. Oh, no, hang on, that doesn't work...

It was. At least they managed to get the physics correct.

SEGA? America, Inc. and SEGA? Europe Ltd., today announced details of Sonic Generations™, the highly anticipated video game title in development to celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 20th Anniversary. Delivering the definitive gaming experience for Sonic fans old and new, Sonic Generations™ sees Sonic the Hedgehog playable as both the much loved classic 1991 character, and the modern day video game hero he has become in this exciting new fast paced adventure. Sonic Generations™ will speed into stores for the Xbox 360? video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation?3 computer entertainment system for Holiday 2011.

Set across three defining eras from 20 years of Sonic the Hedgehog video game history, the instantly recognizable environments of Sonic Generations have been re-built in stunning HD and are now playable in both classic side scrolling 2D from 1991, as well as modern 3D style found in Sonic’s most recent adventures. Sonic Generations will bring to life the last twenty years of Sonic’s universe in a truly unique and imaginative way.”

Sonic’s universe is thrown into chaos when a mysterious new power creates ‘time holes’ which pull him and his friends back through time. As a result, he encounters some surprises from his past history including Classic Sonic, Sonic as he was in 1991. Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic must defeat this strange new enemy, save their friends, and find out who really is behind this diabolical deed...

                    I remain cautiously optimistic.

There is literally no reason to be excited about this. Not a single reason.

                      So why am I?

Unless I just cant read, they only seem to mention 2 different kinds of sonic (2d and 3d) but then say there are 3 different generations of sonic that are playable, so whats the other one?

Be intresting to see how they shoehorn 3 different sonics into a game while trying to still maintain a cohesive experience anyway.

What version of the game did you play? I have the iPhone version and really like it, but the 360 version plays like crap, and i imagine most people played the 360 version, or indeed the PS3 one which I imagine is much the same.

There's a pleasing lack of Sonic's friends in these screens. My hopes are raised and I believe this will be Sonic's triumphant return.
