In real life I'm completely the opposite

Namco Bandai Europe has revealed the Ridge Racer Unbounded Day One Edition, due out alongside the standard edition on P…

Day One Edition announced with some extra cars. As usual GAME/Gamestation preorders recieve a further 6 cars on top though quite nicely they're mostly ones from previous Ridge Racer games.

I remember the days when new Ridge games looked (and felt) special. Been a while since that occurred.

Must admit after watching developer walkthrough I was very impressed but im still left asking who are they trying to attract with this product?
Ridge racer hardcore who want more of the same please.
EA NFS lot, when they see the Ridge Racer name think, boring.
          GT/Forza crew?
Namco could have created a new series with this titl, instead they attached Ridge Racer to it thinking it would surely help...I doubt it will.
In other news though check out the dev walkthrough video with non final build it did look insane, tearing through buildings.

Any more word on whether this is going to worth it?

Doesn't seem like anything new has come up since the release delay. Based on some early previews and the most recent trailers it's still looking okay if the 'Ridge Racer' name is put aside. I'm betting it gets mostly 7 & 8/10's

Demo I played at Hyper Japan festival was weird a roundish city track, and pressing circle to bash into other cars. No view change option either than behind the car which was odd. The drifting felt good but the demo was very very underwhelming.

Only heard of this game yesterday...what happened to Ridge Racer?
I'm all for a series giving itself a revamp and changing things up a little bit but this has become a Burnout clone.

Ads have started to appear etc so it looks like the PAL release date is going to stick for next Friday. This and Silent Hill? Nice.

I'm actually gonna go for it, dev diary video impressed me and the most recent course editor video unleashed the advanced editor, which they have kept a dark secret, looked awesome. Had trackmania vibes watching it.

It's by the developer of FlatOut. And it looks pretty much like FlatOut in all but name.

It is well-known that the developers of Ridge Racer were big fans of Burnout 3, but still.

Press Release about the Unbounded soundtrack.

NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe S.A.S. stuck its head in the bass bin today and had its ears rattled by the onslaught of electronic music heading onto the soundtrack of RIDGE RACER™ UNBOUNDED. Loaded with unstoppable energy, the game soundtrack includes licensed music from established and emerging electronic artists, plus tracks taken from the entire history of RIDGE RACER alongside a number of brand new original compositions.

Licensed music on RIDGE RACER™ UNBOUNDED comes from recent GRAMMY Award-winning dubstep producer Skrillex, with the tracks‘Kill Everybody’ and‘Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites’, plus US electronica duo The Crystal Method and drum&bass collaborators Noisia&The Upbeats. Other additions to the sonic soundscape come from Scratch Perverts, Unknown Error, OVERSEER and newcomers RuN RiOT and Ever Never.

Keeping one wheel firmly in the musical heritage of RIDGE RACER, the game features a selection of tracks by Hiroshi Okubo from throughout the 18 year history of the series, starting with the very first RIDGE RACER right up to RIDGE RACER 7. To complete the game’s auditory assault, Hiroshi Okubo and his team at NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc in Japan have created a number of completely original tracks for RIDGE RACER UNBOUNDED, destined to keep the sonic fires of RIDGE RACER burning brighter than ever.

The latest entry in the celebrated RIDGE RACER series, RIDGE RACER UNBOUNDED turbo-charges the racing genre with full environmental and vehicular destruction. The City Creator lets players design their own impressive urban tracks in minutes using the powerful yet accessible in-game tools, then share their creations online. The signature arcade handling and drifting elements that fans know and love combined with explosive action take RIDGE RACER UNBOUNDED to the next level of competitive racing. With a new car selection including powerful vintage muscle cars, players will take over every alley and street corner in Shatter Bay in the most visceral and destructive racing game of 2012.
