I found the DS NSMB too simple and slightly boring - finished it very quickly and couldn't be bothered to go back and collect all the extras.

The Wii one is quite good fun multiplayer but was rather frustrating a lot of the time as there seemed to be so many places were you would just die EVERY time you got there! I guess you could argue that is just being true to the originals though

Galaxy I quite enjoyed. Not as much as Sunshine or 64 but it was still a decent game and I'll get round to playing the 2nd one one day...

I completley agree, NSMB on DS and Wii just didn't have that 'Mario Magic' for me, don't get me wrong they are good games just I wasn't feeling it. Galaxy 1 & 2 had it in tonnes - I'm excited for Mario 3DS but hope it's more like Mario 3 and Mario World than NSMB.

Sunshine, there's a game that didn't feel anything like a Mario game to me. I really didn't like it. It just felt like all the other 3D platformers with annoying hubs containing the levels and other rubbish to do. There was much better on the cube.

well I didn't really enjoy NSMB either, but loved 64, Sunshine and all the previous console ones (not played all the handheld ones!) The 3DS one felt quite poor to me to be honest, gimmicky for the sake of making use of the 3D. The demo levels weren't that fun or as imaginative as you would hope from a Mario game. Hopefully the final game will be better, but considering how poor Nintendo have been of late I'm not holding my breath...

I get how Sunshine doesn't hold up as strong, it's always felt like the poor relation to me too. I do really like it, but as a Mario platformer goes something feels off with both the visuals and controls.

Might have been the water machine in Sunshine, and that hub level with all those island characters we'd never seen before annoyed me. It didn't look right either, too light and shiney, this is going off memories from like 2003/4 tho!

Shozuki, you have played demo levels from the 3DS one? Was that at an event? I played a demo of Ocarina of Time at the pre launch event last year, I was impressed with the 3D but I know I couldn't restart that game all over again... again.

Yes mate, the game was fully playable at the Eurogamer Expo this year in all its (not so good) glory. That could also be said for all the 3DS titles they had on show, Kid Icarus was alright, MK7 was recycled for the billionth time and Mario 3D felt off.

Really liking the look of that. Might have to pick up a 3DS if I see one going cheap.

Ooo, disapointing to hear you weren't too impressed, how did Mario control? That's my biggest issue and what made me not like NSMB DS. I will still most likely buy this though providing I have my student loan by then.

Actually liking the look of this. Seems to be a good mix of classic Mario escapades along with some nice additions from the Galaxy world.

Gameplay looks ace but can?t say I?m a fan of the art style or NSMB music/sound effects.
