Not that it's notable proof but Superannuation is the guy that posts all of the domain registrations and other leaks.

More diversity in the mobile phone market is well needed. Android is too unreliable and diversified, IOS is too restrictive.
They haven't been botching the smartphone market, sales have been up year on year, the Symbian 3 line sold out in shops and vastly eclipsed sales of Windows Phone 7, and Qt had leveraged a really strong ecosystem, and Meego has been really well received with the fact you could write once and run on both Symbian and Meego platforms a strong positive. There'll be less diversity thanks to the death of Symbian and Meego and Windows Phone 7 is just as restrictive as iOS.

        In terms of development?

Going way off-topic but it's a shame about meego. That new Nokia phone points to it being a very accomplished os for a first release. I think there's a lot of finns right now wishing for elop to drop down a big hole.

It's not just the different form factors and power (which Win7 phones will likely also have), it's the heavy differences in custom GUIs and how quick the new versions come out.

Every Android phone I've seen other people use have suffered from lock ups, sometimes requiring the battery to be taken out.

Some good opinions and posts, but hella confusing to read...

AMD reckon the next Xbox will be capable of Avatar style visuals and every character in a GTA size city will have its own AI (personality).

Pff, even if there's enough extra CPU grunt to do the AI thing, the engine guys will steal it all for fancy visuals anyway. Same as always.

Had my Galaxy S since October 2010 and I've never had any problems whatsoever. The lesser Android phones might be a bit naff though.

It'll be interesting to see how extra grunt is used.

Few developers can make Uncharted or Modern warfare but I imagine lots could take the Dead Rising approach of creating impressive visuals by the amount of stuff on screen rather than the quality of each object (could be amount of enemies, could be foliage or environmental detail).

God knows how immense a console would be based off of a ATI 69xx card. They're producing Battlefield 3 level visuals in an inefficient DirectX windows setup. In a console setup, it probably would match the performance of cards 2 generations from now (much like the 1900pro level cards in current consoles get 4850 levels of performance).

I've heard there are two models of the Galaxy S with different GPU's in them. And no immediately obvious way to tell which is which. I get the impression that Android game dev is a lot like trying to do games in the early days of 3d accelerator cards before DirectX standardised the feature set...

Eurogamer have said that MS have bumped up the release date from a 2014 release to a 2013 one, 2012 unveiling because of the Wii U.

Developers have apparently been given 'target specs' but no dev kits. Guessing that means they'll have settled on specs by January.

Will be interesting to see if they go for bang:buck or for ultra graphics.

Damn, looks like Nintendo have ruffled some feathers then

Oh and graphics ALWAYS sell better these days... Everyone knows how aestetics are everything these days to the genreal public

IIRC Micro$oft have always marketed their consoles at a loss, why stop now?

Zero loading times and not having to constantly update , would that be too much to ask for in the next gen

                                Yup.

Even if you use flash memory, that still has loading time as it copies it up into main memory.

We haven't had genuine memory mapped cartridges since the Genesis (home console) and GBA (handheld). They're not practical anymore.

And while MS may *launch* at a loss, they're most definitely not making a loss on 360 anymore. Not by a long shot.
