You keep saying this, but I'm finished with it. I was on the PES6 PC mod all last year and now I've grown bored of it. I want Konami to produce a decent new PES. Hopefully in 2012 version will deliver.

Well, I have very good news for you sir.

I downloaded the demo.

...and in my opinion, it's the best PES since PES6.

I have thought every PES since PES6 has been awful - beyond woeful (including PES2011).

However, after playing the demo of PES2012, I am convinced PES is back!

Initial Early Impressions:

Good:
Game is noticably slower. PES 2008-2011 have been way to fast to me.

Graphics are lush. Amazing likenesses, beautiful stadium with some great pitchside effects.

Presentation is great.

Physics are superb. Had a very weak shot with Gattuso that was going straight to the keeper, but it got a slight nick of someones knee and pea rolled into the other side of the net. Keeper being flat footed animation was spot on.

Passing and shooting feels good but not great, much better than 2008-2011.

Running animation is improved (see bad).

Other animtions are great.

It feels like PES!

Bad:
Running animation still needs work. It is obviously a major part of the game, so it needs to be addressed but I doubt they will. The problem is that the player's legs seem to move to fast, because in a slow motion replay it looks fine.

Passing not as intuitive or as snappy as PES6 (though some might say more realistic).

Shooting doesn't feel as good as PES6. You don't feel like you can bang it in. Feels like you have less control.

Feels slightly scripted, not to the FIFA extent, but in places it does. Not much though.

Hate the formation menu and new stats.

Doesn't seem as fun a PES6, though I have only played single player so it is not a fair judgement.

Overally, it kind of feels like a cross between PES and FIFA now, which is not a bad thing. Think great graphics and physics of PES with a few elements of FIFA thrown in to give a more simulation like feel.

Amazing thing to say but that is a superb front cover. Much better than the usual tat from football games.

My impressions also posted on WENB for the demo.

First off this was good Japanese practice for me. The Kanji was difficult though. The game is brilliant much improved on PES 2011. Loving the speed burst with R2 held then R1, good to get away from players. I feel Walcotts explosive burst will be the ace up his sleeve in this too. It feels so much more fluid than PES 2011 and much more responsive. Player individuality especially in players like Neymar that are highly skilled is magnificent. Small animations look nice and are very good when they appear, I saw a nice fall animation for instance. 2 bars for passing in the games setting is a must I feel. When I put the passing bar to zero passes were very hard to do and felt a bit loose all assists off too. . I had the player changes on manual and it picks the players very well unlike PES 2011.

The only small negatives as mentioned by others are the shooting and keepers that I guess will get fixed.

One thing I found really odd. AC Milan S!!!! So overrated and a few players/teams underrated e.g Hernandez and Man U. Will be interesting to see stats for other teams.

Had some amazing matches especially with Santos and enjoying this so, so much. Thanks for the demo Konami.

Oh please sort out player selection via L1, PUH LEASE Konami. It never used to be a problem until the last 2-3 PES's.

Whats wrong with the keepers now? I thought they were ok in 2011. I think Man C and AC Milan are gonna be beasts as well as Real n Barca in this game.

Cursor is fine here. I play on Semi-Assisted.

Really enjoying the flow of the game. It plays a lot more less rigid than previous versions.

The off-ball mechanic is brilliant. From the quick press and nudge of right stick to trigger runs, to the asking for a ball on your head on free kicks. Throw-ins too.

Keepers need work. They looked better in the Gamescom videos! Grr

The only other problem I'm having at the moment is with standing tackles. It's difficult. I try to jockey and time a tackle, but more often than not, I end up committing unsuccessfully.

Going on the offence is ace though.
