Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 (PS3/360/PC)

Well I will put my basic impressions up. PC demo at a shocking 15fps! Still at least I had a go.

The bad first, the animation is crap overall. It re-uses a lot of the PS2 stuff and some of the shooting and passing animation just does not look right. If it was 1997 again it would be fine but for a series with such heritage it is very poor.

Despite the low frame rate I managed to get a rough feel for the game and I really enjoyed it. It kinda feels like PES 7 in its most basic way. I literally played it as I would the PS2 game and the control was excellent and it was easy to move the ball around. Shooting felt nice and solid, hit the woodwork twice for 30 yards and scored a 22 yard drilled shot with Nani.
Dribbing felt good, much more control than recent times too.

Overall, a basic report but it was enough to make me feel that PES will be a very good football game this year. It did feel a bit more arcadey than Fifa but again I played it at the most basic level and only on regular difficulty.
Can't wait for the 360 demo.

But Nakamura...the PS2 animations are much better than anything we have seen from PES2008-2011!

Having played a good number of games in the demo, I am convinced PES is back. They have gone back to what it did best.

Few things to sort out, sure...but this is great!

I thought the demo was ok(after that over long boring video montage) it played a bit slow and the sprint is only a bit faster. I'd be happy with that as long as master league is fixed.

Does anybody know if the Japanese version will feature J-League teams this year? It's released the week before I go on holiday and J-League would give me a second reason to insta-buy (the first being the amazing commentary!!)

I don't think it will, but fingers crossed that they bring out a separate J-League version that they usually do the following year, but hopefully this time it'll be on PS3 for once, and not just PS2.

Not likely. They haven't been able to get this game right for so long they probably haven't bothered with updating all the J stuff into HD.
Wouldn't be surprised to see one after xmas though.

I'm buying this and fifa again this year. Both offer different enough experiences to justify it I reckon.

FIFA always bores me to tears offline compared to Pro Evo but I love online clubs too much to not get both even though I can't really afford to....

Had a go on the 360 demo last night, at an acceptable frame rate and I have to say, it plays very well.
The flow of the match is nice, control of the players is solid and they stomp around the pitch in a satisfying way. Passing is tricky at first due to being unfamiliar but it feels nice and deep enough to satisfy.
Movement of players off the ball is good, shooting felt nice as did pretty much everything else.

Animation is the only killer, it really looks poor and we should expect better in 2011. Still it doesn't seem to make a difference to the gameplay and I think this will be a cracking buy for those who do not get on with Fifa.
I've not put as much time into this as the Fifa demo but it seems to be damn good.

Has anyone experienced stuttering stop/start running? It seems to be an issue that a few on various forums have mentioned. I thought it was my pad causing it. Bloody annoying. Also keepers are still bad. Still buying it cos I'm a sucker!

Read similar reports from 360 players. Ain't had any issues on my PS3. You on 360?

Yes 360, seen some ps3 users mention it too. Sometimes it doesn't happen. Very odd.
