You desperately want this to be good again don't you Hools?

That said it just looks better all of the time. Fifa is a day one for clubs but PES could offer serious competiton this year. I know it is very early but I could see it getting high scores.

'Course! Fifa's getting a bit boring. This looks fun!

I must admit I am bored of single player Fifa, it is miles too easy and the AI never seem to score.
That said, downloading all of the J-1 teams has revived 1v1 with Famidude. Clubs still gets it though.

You have to go to the creation centire and search for each team. A guy called Japan create did most of them and there is another who did the rest, I forget the name. You can spot them though as they all have at least 2000 downloads.

All teams are around 2-3 stars. Pretty accurate in some areas but as usual they lack pace. We find if you use them on gamespeed fast it feels fantastic. Andy and I have sunk a lot of time in 1v1 and scored some cracking goals.

I dunno that it's looking that good, those videos look rubbish. The teammate controls appear nice, but in actual gameplay will be impossible to use effectively because you can't concentrate on two runs at once if the defence is actually playing. It'll be an actual limitation of your eyes and your brain.

You'll notice that they demonstrate it against a practically static defence. Either that means that the defensive AI is **** and not tracking runs, or if you try and play on a proper difficulty it'll track runs and be so hard to actually find the space that by the time you've found it you've completely lost track of the player with the ball and been tackled or something.

                It's a gimmick.

                  Indeed.

I'd like to see you get that much time online to control another player and have a decent pass. Since last time I played online (both Fifa/ PES) you'd get bum-rushed regardless, as everybody just presses close. It would be easier just doing one-two give and goes.

I'd dearly love to see it work. But they should try doing another video, where the match is a competitive one against humans, and we'll see how the off the ball controlling works.

It's optional. Agreed that I'd need two brains and an extra arm, but I'm sure that some will master it, just like manual passing. Another age old feature that I never used. Konami have already pimp video'd their new AI and you can always use the assisted team mate runs if need.

Nowt wrong with a bit of optional gameplay depth.

I think it will be very easy to impliment, much like playing a twin stick shooter. With time it could become second nature and it certainly gives the player more control which is always a good thing.

I've recently gone back to PES6.

                        It's great;

Downloaded patches for transfers, kits, faces, boots, chants, crowd graphics etc etc.

Brings the game right up to date.

The great thing about one of these patches is that they run their own server for PES6 which means you can still enjoy it online. Which is awesome after all these years.

Oooh, Pes6 right up to todays date? I take it you're playing this on the PC?

                            Yeah mate, PC.

The patches I downloaded are up to date for the January Windows (but more updates will come once the summer window shut).

This is the patch for playing online - includes everything (transfers, kits, graphics, stadiums etc) except new chants:

This is the one I have installed for offline (need to register on Evo Web I think to see this):

However, been told that this is apparently the best for both online and offline:

I mean, PES6 is obviously better than any later PES, that is a given. Is it better than FIFA11? Techinally no, but in actuality it is. Going back to PES6 makes you realise how much you aren't in control on FIFA, PES6 has that awesome feeling of 'anything can happen'. You have almost complete control over what you do, it really is the best football game...and with the patches it is right up to date graphically and statistically.

Yes it looks nice, but hasnt this always been in PES? In fact it might have been the last one where they got rid of the R2 trick button and set it all to the thumbstick which was annoying as hell. Sometimes Konami fiddle too much with PES gameplay wise when there isnt anything wrong with it in the first bloody place!
