Wow, this is actually for current gen? Color me surprised. Hope they have some real innovation this time, unlike 4 which took the gameplay from the 3's and gave it better graphics.

I go into this with a very, very, very, very long wish list which opens with a lot of the first things made up of technical improvements. After Red Dead there's no excuse for this to not be an immense improvement on GTA4

As they don't usually hype a GTA until it's nearly done, I'd say this *could* even drop this year. But I suspect we're looking at Easter, same as GTA4.

Yeah, I'm hoping for a larger open world that compares with San Andrea. Doesn't need to be AS big but something similar with the country inbetween offered huge variety in areas. I know Rockstar North worked on RDR but I think it was mainly a San Diego run game so don't expect alot of it to be done the same. But I may be wrong and looking into it too much.

I think GTA 4 was announced with a trailer almost a year before it was released so don't get your hopes up. I don't think I even want it this year to be honest anyway. Too much other stuff to be played!

What's everyones thoughts on the style, era, etc? The logo to me originally looked like 1930's style America, maybe prohibition era type game but my pal reckons the logo is more British bank note style which could hint to it being set in UK, most likely London again. Unless they go for closer to home with Scotland or Edinburgh!

GTA 4 was announced like at E3 2006. And released in 2008, even though it was delayed in 2007.

I expect it to be out some time next year though as 2013 would be pushing it as you expect new consoles to come out by then.

I just hope it's all about the fun, especially in the locations/layout/driving. All I really need on top of what GTAIV could do.

Oh, and not seeing anything British in the logo - the FIVE seems to be in the same(ish) font used in dollars. I'm guessing just plain modern US but who knows... the '80s proved to be very popular for them so I wouldn't be surprised if they revisit that at some point.

I never liked the 3d GTA games all that much but after playing Red Dead Redemption I'm now a lot more interested in GTAV. I was hoping this'd get announced.

I quite liked the seriousness of GTA4. If you want silly, there's Saints Row...

I don't mind if the city is the same size as 4's, I just hope it's well designed and not a forgettable mush of landmass like 4's. I want to enjoy scouring for 4 storey high ramps again with mechanics that are fun

                      Fun does not equal silly.

And, yes, Crazytaxinext, that's exactly the sort of thing I'd be hoping for more of.

San Andreas is the pinnacle of the series for me

GTA4 was great but it seemed to take backward steps with regards to the aircraft

Loved flying the harrier, apache, cargo plane and private jet

I loved SA too. Loads of fun places to drive there - loved going over the countryside off-road at top speeds. I only had one main criticism with SA and it's that it was so, so huge and yet with not a lot to find in there. GTA3, for example, was tiny by comparison but explore every nook and cranny and there'd be loads to find - guns, packages, kill thingies, messages and so on. To really reward the size, I think SA needed more to find to make exploration more fun.

I thought San Andreas was the worst one to be honest. No focus.

In what sense? Story? Or in it moving you from location to location pretty quickly?
