Looks and sounds brilliant. Looking forward to playing it.

Me too, but that's because I always get bored with sandbox games. It seems the more freedom I'm given, the more likely I am to just do something silly for five minutes and switch off(e.g. previous GTA games, Animal Crossing).

I've got GTA 4 sitting here, I'll give it a spin later while the hype train is choo-chooing and see how things go...

hopefully the game is actually fun to play this time unlike the previous 5 games. Mechanically they've been terrible...

a solid meh, it's another one for the chavs springs to mind.

Loved VC for the music and just driving around listening to it. Picked up IV the other day for $11 so will have a play of that some day soonish I guess. Need to finish Chinatown Wars too.

Visually looks alright, comes across as a remake rather than a new game. It's come to something when GTA is no longer a franchise to be excited about. Until I see in game footage I remain unconvinced.

I have to agree. I always liked the scope and ideas crammed in there and the seeming amount of freedom but they controlled so badly I never got that far into any of them.

I would agree bar the 1st game (which I thought was great fun) I dislike the sandbox model too, it's not always clear what you have to do or go next and I don't find that fun at all. That said I will buy this game (like the rest) hoping one day they'll nail it and got to give credit to the R&D team for modelling such massive cities

Liking the look. Nice Michael Mann vibe. Hoping it's a return to San Andreas' form, my fave in the series.

Well I thought GTA IV was excellent (and San Andreas and Vice City before that), I see no reason to assume this won't be good.

Nah, that would be Saint's Row 3.

Can't speak for all sandbox games, but I think GTA games at least are quite clear with what you have to do and where to go. Especially IV which has the navigator which shows you which roads to drive to get to your objectives.

GTA always seemed like an RPG where the only stat you could improve was cash. I definitely see the appeal it's just not for me. I got bored of RDR too. I did like Vice City a lot though. I may have even finished that one, can;t remember.

It was a bit helpful but not always clear what you had to do next . I did enjoy the online parts of GTA 4, but not really a fan of the sandbox open world style because after a while it all gets rather dull and confusing and I lose the will to carry on the game, be that Assassin Creed, GTA or Red Dead.

A shame too has most are technically marvellous and at the start they're brilliant games to play, just get bored of them after midway through.

GTA4 needed the navigator because the city was an unmemorable sprawl. The satnav function was something I detested, a well designed city wouldn't need it. I can still remember the joy of exploring the PS2 games expanses and can still recall their layout. Not so for 4.

Really? I found GTA4 was *much* easier to pick out the landmarks etc... and learn the routes across the place than any of the previous games were.
