It's an in-joke that most people outside the US won't get. The line being narrated at that point is a Cosby Show reference, and Bill Cosby dressed that way a lot in that show.

Everyone has their own tastes, I'm still not tired of hitting the throttle on Johnny's bike while Bon Jovi's Dead or Alive blasts through the speakers or cruising down Vice City's beach with some Hall & Oates or MJ.

No, it NEEDED a navigator because the city was probably 5 times bigger than Liberty in GTA III or Vice City. San Andreas would have needed it because of the size.

This really shows how different tastes people have, to me JC2 is a terrible game. Huge beautiful map but nothing in terms of gameplay, "go destroy this enemy base", "repeat for 10 hours". Ugh.

            Pretty much.

That vid raises more questions than it actually answers. Firstly, what platform is that? Must be PC of course, but even still, there's some quite remarkable stuff going on. Loads of shadows, and car headlights miles away - moving. This gen of consoles couldn't get near that of course. And as peeps here have pointed out, to date a new GTA numeral has meant a new generation of console.

Hey, you never know. If one of the big boys manages to get this as a launch title, it would be very interesting to see what affect that would have on console takeup.

The other question is, if it is the PC version, why it doesn't look as good as some of the PC GTA4 mods

              Probably because

A: it will have to come out on consoles too

B: GTA has always had cartoony look and the Bin Man simulator photo texture look of some of the mods would be out of place

                GTA4 didn't have a cartoony look imo.

Not cartoony but definitely an illustrated style to the rendering. One that seems to stem from the illustration style they've had for a while now. Not realistic.

Yeah, cartoony is not the best word. You just have to look at the artwork for San Andreas and then the screenshots and you can see they must of been so close to making it a little cell shaded.

I take it you haven't played Vice City, San Andreas or perhaps Episodes from Liberty City?

I've played several of those and they all were like that.

I honestly liked the overhead GTA's more. It felt like you had more freedom to progress how you want and it was easy to find your way around. 3D GTA's often force you to do a frustrating mission in order to proceed which might be difficult to locate and then forces you to find the restart point if you mess up.

That's true for the old ones, IV allows you to replay missions from your cell phone though and skip long drives if you have to do them again in missions.

yeah I really liked those too, they were very arcadey.

Retro City Rampage will fill the old skool gta want. Can't wait for that.
