Portal 2 - only started this very recently and it's triffic.
Skyrim - purely for epicness.
Dark Souls - never played Demon's so this was a nice surprise/punch round the head.
KOF XIII - yay, a good KOF for once.
Akai Katana Shin - because I *do* like Cave's horis.

Top 3 Games of the Year:

1. Mortal Kombat: Best fighter of the year by far. Good online modes, meaty single player modes and good DLC support.

2. Tropico 4: "El Presidente" has grabbed my by the throat since I played the demo, and although I bought it quite late this year it has eaten up a lot of playtime.

3. Deathsmiles: Good old fashioned shooter fun. Reminds me of a really polished Snes game, and that is a very good thing.

Best Digital Game Of The Year:

Daytona USA. Superb version of one of the best arcade racers ever.


Worst Game of the Year

LA Noire: A complete crapfest, devoid of any meaningful gameplay and even the much hyped graphics were poor overall, with all the effort in the face but seemingly the rest created by a work experience kid.

Biggest Disappointment of the Year:

Marvel vs Capcom 3: Not as good as MVC2, and feels unfinished. Capcom even had the cheek to release ANOTHER edition of it the same year. Not a bad game, but not a particularly great one.

Games which I have got over the last couple of weeks but will not have enough time to make an informed judgement on:

Dead Island (pleasing in the first few hours)
Dark Souls (seems REALLY good from my first hour!)

I know, and I wasn't prepared for it... Aside from dabbling a bit in FF14 I've never played one before.

I don't remember doing one useful thing this past week. I've even got Zelda sitting there and I haven't touched it! I think I need help

MMOs (FFXI and WoW, for me) are ****ing amazing. I often contemplate splitting with my GF so I can jump back in.

I'm trying to play Oblivion. I'm doing my best to force myself into liking it, but at best it feels like I'm playing an aged MMO with me being the only person on the server.

In a word, playing MMOs can raise the bar in terms of what you expect from offline experiences.

I reckon I've only played one game that was actually released this year - so my top 5 is in fact top 1:

Assassin's Creed: Revelations - excellent game. Don't think it's received the love it deserves.
