What are the reasons for trading? I mean, you aint going to want a lvl 4 Patrat from me haha. Does Black version have some different Pokemon from White?

Yeah different Pokemon, some only evolve through trade (Machoke into Machamp in red/blue for eg), some you are given a choice for in the game (start Pokemon obviously, but also eg from the originals were these two fighting Pokemon in a Dojo) and some are just damn hard to catch!

Yeah like Koops says, some of them will only evolve when you trade with someone (then you just trade back). Think my rock type was like that...man, he is so awesome! There are 2 fighting types in this game too that are game specific (Throh and Sawk).
Really need to carry on with my game now!

It is addictive. Not too far in only have 6 Pokemon at the moment, but I'm loving the old school turn based gameplay and the exploration.

                Which Pokemon did you choose?

I must say, I feel it best to start with either Red or Blue, before it all got so overwhelming.

I agree. When it got to the point where catching them all was about as likely, as difficult and as much of a commitment as me curing cancer, I lost a lot of the fun and can't imagine what it would be like starting with those. That said, there were some great features in the newer ones.

Or did you mean starting Pokemon? In that case, Oshawott!

Thats why I like HG/SS. It is still possible to catch all 250(/1/2) and a bit more of a challenge than the 150(/1) as I've done that a few times in Yellow/Blue/Red and LG/FR. I think you can import the Pokemon from Diamond and Pearl too but I just ignore that

And Hoolak, Tepig FTW, not Oshawott

Fire seemed obvious, so went the way of the moist.
