Lol this is so great. So it turns out they literally put a generic Chinese emu handheld (approx RRP: ?50) and put it in a shell with SNK written on it in order to charge ?180. In fact, they couldn't even be arsed to delete all of the other emus off it! And not only that, but they were so lazy that instead of making their own 'official' SNK emulator (using all of this specialist early 90s arcade knowhow that supposedly - lol - went into this machine), they just used FinalBurn Alpha. Which you can download from the internet. For free.

And people are getting excited that they can play any game they want on it now yeah emulators have worked like that for some time.

I'm gonna make the PC Engine GT 2. It's a cheap Chinese handheld with a PC Engine emu on it but I put it in a cool shell that looks like a PC Engine GT but with a totally inappropriate 16:9 screen. Oh and it comes in a box that looks kind of like the box the PC Engine GT came in.

It's ?250 but it's totally worth it, it comes with 20 games. Not the games you want though, they'll be coming later for ?25 each on SD cards. Get your preorders in now folks! This one's gonna be a sellout item!

NGXG is coming in for quite a bit of criticism on the Neo-Geo forums - emulation quality would appear to be half-baked at best.

Can't see myself purchasing one of these, but I've felt that way for a while now. Waiting for first impressions from those on here who have taken the plunge, just out of interest.

Are we sure it's not just a hacked PSP?

For many though it is how the thing looks and feels.
For me, the case it sits in under the TV and the Neo Sticks are what sell it.

Now, this is why I don't like Chinese products, yeah they tend to do everything well, as good as anything else, but they always look like cheap Chinese knock offs.
They never seem to get that people will pay for something that feels and looks quality.

There are of course the exceptions, but they do tend to be the exceptions.
It won't be long till they are making some real quality stuff, but generally they just don't get it.

A hacked PSP is much better.

This is about $10 worth of hardware no doubt. Missed opportunity really.

Considering a hacked PSP can do 10x more, pretty sure it's just a crappy generic emubox.

The case it sits in under the TV? What the plastic dock? Hey man I'll sell you a plastic box for ?200 if you want. It's a really high quality one! It even has its own HDMI cable included, at no extra cost to you!

Oh, and this product is Chinese. Only a product created in China (where copyright law is very 'grey area') would have a PS1 BIOS built in.

To be fair it has the controller and the interface has a HDMI port.

It's possibly at most worth half they price they're charging, if it wasn't SNK branded.

I'm surprised that people are defending this. To be honest, I was a bit surprised that people fell for this in the first place - Blaze would have paid SNKP a couple of hundred grand to use their brand and shell designes, and that would have been the extent of SNKP's involvement.

I can understand people's frustration to a degree. However, it was always going to be a generic device in a fancy shell running an emulator. I think the SNKP brand clouded people's judgement on this one. Blaze have been making these kinds of devices for some time. Quite why people had higher hopes for this device has always baffled me.

Well, If SNK sell enough of them we'll hopefully see Garou 2, Baseball Stars 3, and Fatal Fury 4.

And I'm really glad I sold off those huge AES cases, who needs that when you can scale them down to the size of an SD card? A great piece for collectors, no doubt.

I've got three on the way, plus six sticks.
