Looks like most branches of Game in Scotland have been dumped. My mate has lost his job unfortunately. From what I know of the location of the various branches it looks like Game shops have tended to be located in high streets or shopping centres which will command high rates and rent. Seems like Gamestation being located in less high profile locations may have helped some peeps hang on to a job for a bit longer.

Best Game memories...
Completing a 24 box delivery single handed on one day right near christmas. It was epic and I was the stock room king but god I was tired after.
On the said christmas, having queues of customers from the counter, out of the door and way down the high street was buzzing.
One day I was trying to help a lovely lady with a PS1 issue. She had lost her RF lead and no shop in the local area, indy or chain had one in stock. I told her to return at a later time that day and I would have one for her free of charge. I rode home on my lunch break to get my own one to give to her as I used RGB anyway.
She was so happy, she wrote to customer services to express her gratitude. I was 17 at the time and that meant the world to me, especially when trying to impress my manager.
Two player link up Command and Conquer on PS1 in the stock room after work. Went to MacDonalds with a box to buy around 30 big macs as they were on special for a pound each! There were about 10 of us playing and one of them built a massive naval base to attack by sea. He finished and set his sea troops off only to scroll the screen along to realise he built the base in a lake!
Needless to say he was wiped out within minutes!
Many good times indeed. Then EB took over and ruined it all.

Haven't been down to (my local) GAME Walthamstow since I used the last of my Reward Points/Gift Card a couple of weeks back, but reports are indicating that it has been closed, which would seem likely given that Gamestation & HMV Walthamstow met similar fates a month or two ago.
Also, far as I know, Stratford has two GAME stores (Stratford Centre & Westfield Stratford City) and there is one in Ilford. Would've thought that at least two of those three would get shutdown...

I remember getting so many good games from the GAME and Gamestation shops in Durham.
In GAME I got MGS1, Soul Reaver, various PES games, Colony Wars games, tons of PS2 stuff. It was a good shop, but I never seriously went back after an annoying woman kept trying to force me to buy a PSP instead of a DS. I went to the Gamestation down the road instead and they gave me one, no fuss.
That Gamestation was a pretty good shop - I picked up Herzog Zwei on the MD down there one Christmas for pebbles. That shop went downhill when it ditched the retro section. It's USP went, and it became another GAME clone, albeit a better stocked one.

"Norwich 3-4 Castle Mall Shopping Centre"
Fry/Boris - Would that be the Game or Gamestation or both? They were so damn close together.
Edit: Must be the Gamestation, I forgot there was Virgin/Zavvi between them and I guess Game isn't technically in the Mall lol.
Best memories - Looking round the shop when it was reasonably new and it would always be a port of call when we went city shopping with my Dad.
Worst memories - Being turned away in the queue from buying Alien Resurrection (PS1) as I didn't have any ID on me. I was over 15 and so pissed off that I just chucked the game on the floor and walked out. Rebel.Last edited by Fader209; 26-03-2012, 18:18.

I really liked my local Gamestation in Uxbridge, the staff in there are good and I pre-ordered all my consoles there
I liked having a shop to browse around and they still had a lot of older titles, I still regularly picked up DS games there..
Don't know if it's staying open or notwill be sad to see it empty if it is closed..
