thing is i wonder why it happened in mass effect and no other game this out cry happened like bioshock for example or even skyrim

i think for me it was the fact that i invested a lot of time in the series over 5 years and play time of perhaps 80 hours in total bioware have crafted a great world with great characters and i was hoping for a proper conclusion and felt really disapointed with the ending (especially considering the things bioware had said like not being a 1 2 3 ending )

i just think it s a fairly unique situation cannot see it happening with other games

      How 'bout Rockstar then?

It's like I said in the First Play thread, due to the very structure of ME games it was always clear as day that the games ending would be open ended so as to allow for DLC or gamers looking to mop up achievements with their levelled up Shepherds. Pretty much every Bioware game operates in the same manner, it's more to do with the unrealistic expectations of gamers than anything else.

Yes good choice Guts, Rockstar always have a full fleshed out world at no extra cost, but can give you excellent add-on DLC like undead nightmares for red dead redemption which was pretty cheap, plus they give you free stuff, anybody for Hot Coffee

Nope.... and Crapcom, oops i mean Capcom are the masters of DLC they cant be trusted with nothing, ive wondered how they ain't tried it with Monster Hunter yet, if it ever happens, ie i mean buy a blue shiny sword for 500 yen then i'd defiantly stop buying it.

Yes, yes, I realise it came out a bit larger than needed.

It's long gone: Listen to what EA boss John Riccitiello has to say at 24m 40s. (This was a presentation in June last year).

So not Gouging, BULL****, it ever gets to the case of, buy bullets for BF im out totally.

In fact id go far to say that this would be the end of the industry and another crash would happen, hope it never happens but in a way i hope it does cause im tired of these BULL**** companies who only think of profit.

I predict all this freemium and DLC overload will come back to bite these companies hard and people will move to devs and companies that actually care about games and their cumstomers.

It was an example - but it's the kind of model being pushed towards, more typically in the F2P arena, and he may well be right in what he's saying: if you're that invested, you want to keep playing - like chucking pound coins in the Outrun machine.

I'm tired of people saying they're tired of people saying they're entitled to stuff.

Besides which, it is a myth:
The gaming industry, and gaming media, is wrong to label upset consumers as 'entitled' or ignore the investment of fans beyond simply spending their hard-earned cash. Colin Moriarty has a peculiar video up at IGN. In it he talks about the 'mass hysteria' following the release of Mass Effect 3. Colin is [...]

^Indeed. There is a difference between 'gamer entitlement', and people actually being screwed over. It is a dangerous situation when publishers can get away with all sorts of shenanigans such as ending DLC simply because of the 'entitled gamer' scapegoat.

EDIT - I should note that I'm not directing that at anyone here. Just a general musing.

Now again, I haven't played Mass Effect 3 yet so I have no idea of the quality of the ending, I personally might think it's a-ok. However, I think the quality of the ending isn't even the problem in this case.

The way I understand it, fans think the ending is a bit sh*t, but that's not the reason they are angry and demanding a new ending. They are angry because before the release BioWare staff made up all sorts of cool stuff that would be in the game, that all those fan questions would be answered, that fans would really feel their Shepard affected the story and the game universe and then it turns out it was all basically marketing hype (=lies). That's why I think the fans are in an outrage, they feel like they were betrayed by the people they liked.

So in short, don't make promises you can't keep and be honest to your fan base.

I have no real interest in this saga but any industry which sells a product, and the media that covers that product, isn't doing itself any favours by describing their customers as behaving as though they're 'entitled'.

An industry that wants to eradicate second hand sales you mean?
